Pretty much spot on.

I'd rather him be playing than Kostka... or even Holzer at the moment (I get the whole RH vs LH Dman thing).

Liles is a good offensive dman. Skates extremely well, moves the puck well, good on the PP, etc.

It's a little "what have you dont for me lately" that fans are going through. Basically thinking he's worthless which isn't the case.

He should garner a 2nd round pick plus a marginal prospect or additional later pick.

Paajarvi is going to be a mid level prospect at best.

If he hasn't been able to stick with a bottom level club, what's going to happen when Edmonton is a playoff bound team?

His value is very weak at this point. If the leafs ate some salary it could help his value but at this point is a late draft pick at best and the leafs should be happy to get that.

The big issue for me with Liles is that new contract extension he signed. He would be perfect for Edmonton if he had a year left after this year, give the Oilers someone to put Potter in the pressbox and a solid veteran while the D prospects develop. Most of the Oiler D prospects would seem unlikely to make the roster next year as Klefbom missed this year and guys like Marincin Gernat and Musil would seem to be at least another year away.

Kadri couldn't stick on a bottom feeding team like the leafs until this year. See how that works? MPS will never be a super star but he'll be a goon nhl'er IMO.

Pajaarvi has shown a lot of things this season to suggest that he can still be a solid 2nd line player. He doesn't seem as tentative as he did last year, is a bit more physical, although he does need to go to the dirty areas more still, and drive the net harder. That said, he's still been scoring a few nice goals with limited ice time. His development hasn't been ideal, but a lot of the criticisms with Pajaarvi right now can be chalked up to slower than expected development. I think its too early to consider him a "mid level prospect".

Back to Colorado for a 3rd sorry but his big contract and his post concussion play dont warrant the same return colorado got from him. Plus its tough to sell a defenseman when you don't think he is worth playing in your top six.

Not sure what the "oh dear" is for. The Oilers only real hole on defense is on the top pair. Liles doesn't help that at all. We already have 4 guys who are second pair d-men. Liles isn't the answer, unless we can trade Whitney and/or Potter first.

Didn't you know the leafs are offering you defense to fix your team? You need to accept because your defense is poo poo. The leafs are doing you a favour.

A 2nd for liles is good for any team, the oilers are horrid, so wont be getting another player too. Nothing wrong with Liles, we are just too deep on D & have more quality coming.

Liles for a 2nd rounder which most likely falls in the 35-45 range plus a decent AHLer who will never be an NHLer to help the Marlies out and done deal.

Some fans might question the Liles contract but take a look at what other free agent Dmen have getting and then look at how terrible the free agent D group is this year.

It'd be a good deal for both sides.

You got Liles for a second on a better contract before concussion issues if you get a second back for him alone you'll be lucky

Your forgetting the HF TO rule, once a player becomes a Leaf he's worth a 1st, no matter how bad he is and if he's sitting in the press box.

So every other player taken in that draft after Kadri we have no use for, right?

I can't imagine Avs being interested in bringing back Liles. They made the decision to move on because I assume they didn't want to give him a retirement contract. He got his big retirement contract with Leafs, got concussed, is a bit hesitant going into the corners, can't grab a spot there and now Avs are supposed to want him back?

It doesn't make any sense.
