Edm - tor (mps)

Always had a soft spot for MPS but think he needs more AHL seasoning. I think he can turn into a similar player to Kulemin.

Would the Oilers be willing to do something like

To TOR: MPS

To EDM: Liles+Colborne/Ashton

Both Colborne & Ashton are in this proposal as they both address an area of concern for the Oilers. Colborne should be ready for the NHL next year and is the center with size Edmonton is looking for. Ashton is that rugged physical winger that could play in the AHL right now. Really good along the boards.

Liles would fit in Edmonton's system well and would free up a roster spot for Gardiner on the Leafs.

MPS would be sent to the AHL for more seasoning.

Thoughts? Would either side need to add more?

Liles would be the most I would do. Ashton and Colbourne look like they will be solid NHL players. With MPS you're just hoping he grows a spine and takes his game to the level that it should be.

If you had a soft spot for MPS, you would of known that he has been playing well with the Oilers. Oilers don't need a over priced 7th D, they have to many 7th D's.

Oilers pass and Tambo almost dies laughing with the offer.

You underestimate the powers of MPS. He flies like the wind. Plays defence like a hot chick at a sausagefest. Only a fool like Tampolini would consider trading such a beast for mere scraps. Fools.

Liles is a top 4 D man. He's being misused with the Leafs. Hell, Gardiner is still in the AHL ffs despite being 100%. Makes me so mad seeing these baffoons on our defense night in and night out when we could be sooo much better.

We don't really need Magnus. I wouldn't give up on him yet anyway if I'm the Oil. As far as Liles for the Oilers goes, they could use him perhaps but we are getting junk back and we'd have to accept that

Not sure MPS would crack the Leafs roster. Especially after Frattin comes back.

Lilies would be a bottom pairing on the oilers, Oiler already have Petry and Schultz in the top 4 that do Lilies job and the fact Lilies is in 32-33 he is older then the type of D-man the oilers would be looking for

Liles is not a top 4 dman plus the Oilers really have no use for Liles and his contract, they pass.

He really isn't cracking our top 6. That isn't a slight on him. He might in the future, who knows.

Take Ashton. We'll keep Colborne a little bit longer at least.

MPS would sit in the minors for the Leafs this season anyway.

Well this is rich. Please, do tell who MPS would play over in Toronto? Lupul,Kessel,Macarthur,Kulemin,Frattin,Komarov,JVR ? In fact, the Leafs have way too many wingers as it is.

Any one of the last 4, with a possible push to Frattin...he may not crack the top 6, but he's top 9 easily.

You'd be showcasing him if he got played over Komarov, or Kulemin who play far better defensive minutes than MPS could, and he isn't pushing Frattin anywhere. MacA if you prefer more size I guess

Doing what? I dont know what MPS currently has over any of these players to put him in. Komarov and Kulemin play PK, MacArthur and Frattin are scorers. I dont see what he's going to do to push any of those players out of the lineup. Especially since I listed 7 players - he'd have to beat out two of them.

No offense, but the Leafs strength is in its wings.

When healthy

Lupul - Kessel

Kulemin - Mac

JVR - Frattin

Really top 9? plus for the bottom six Mcclement and Komorov are much better. Only way I see a trade is if we swap you Mac for MPS and bring JVR up to the second line, and create a MPS-Kadri-Frattin third line.

I am happy keeping Magnus, he's playing very well recently. Plus, I really don't think we need Liles, unless its in a swap for Potter or Whitney, but even Whitney has finally been scoring again. I don't think its awful, but I don't see the point to be honest.

for those leaf fans asking about the Oilers top 4

Schultz, Schultz, Smid and Petry

Liles is about 5 years older then what is ideal for what the oilers are building for and the other problem, Petry and Schultz are the PMD that are on the roster and Schultz and Smid are the ones who are are the stay at home D-men to balance the training wheels on Schultz and Petry.

Oilers Have Oscar Klefbom coming over next year and until he got injured he was considered one of the best D men not playing in the NHL
