According to Dana, Hunt turned down the fight with JDS.

I absolutely can't wait for Silva-Weidman. Also nice that people will stop saying Silva's ducking him.

That really sucks. There was some talk he was banged up going into the Struve fight (perhaps why he struggled to make 266), so that might be why he had to turn it down.

Agreed. I actually think that stylistically Weidman is the toughest test of Anderson's career.

That doesn't really make sense. Hunt said last night that if he would be willing to take the fight with JDS if he received the call.

The only reason i can think of is that he was offered the fight but the UFC tried to lowball him on money so he turned it down.

The guy has a contract there's no lowball.

Therein lies the problem. According to Hunt he never turned the fight down.

True and if you publicly say you're ready to fight JDS but then privately ask for more money to take the fight, Dana has every right to say no. Don't know if that's what happened but it's a possibility.

I'm much more interested in JDS/Overeem anyways. It's also going to make the UFC a lot more money so I doubt Dana really cares about making the JDS/Hunt fight happen. They can have JDS/Overeem headline a card in the summer and it'll do big numbers.

Well I seem to remember that Machida was offered a late notice title shot and he demanded 'Anderson Silva money' to take the fight, and Dana made that extremely public. I'm thinking if that was the case, we'd be hearing about it.

Fight hasnt happened yet.

I expect a mystery "injury" to be announced by the Silva camp a month or two before the event.

I think Silva's going to show up, destroy Wideman, take his money, and go home and wait for Dana to put somebody else in front of him.

If that happens, hopefully it's a legit top 5 205'er, or even Jon Jones. There has been talk about the Jones/Silva "superfight" happening sometime this fall at Madison Square Garden if everything goes to plan.

Just read on Sherdog that apparently Dana had a great phone conversation with Hunt yesterday. Not sure what that means though

Someone also posted a tweet from JDS saying that he wanted to fight in May and not later.

It seems that nothing is set in stone yet

Could be negotiating. Hunt probably wants to fight JDS but doesn't think he'll be ready in May. Dana's probably saying either take the fight against JDS on that card or it's not happening as it doesn't make sense to push a JDS/Hunt fight back, when you could probably make JDS/Overeem happen around the same time.

Horrible fight. JDS is going to embarrass the out of shape blob that struggled against a terrible Struve.

And then everyone who called Weidman the next great threat will proceed to diminish him.

How's Hunt's chin? If it's strong, I see this fight going just like the JDS/Nelson fight did. Both guys gas (badly) by the 3rd but JDS destroys him.

I don't see it going that far even. If neither guy has been knocked out by the middle of the 2nd round and Hunt has gassed(likely), I'm guessing JDS will try and get him to the ground and show us his BJJ he's been wanting to showcase. Heck he may even do it earlier in the fight. Hunt's ground game has improved, but it's still very weak and BJJ black belt should be able to finish him at that point rather easily.

Hunt has always had an iron chin. Took a flush Cro Cop head kick and wasn't Ko'ed. Knocked out by Manhoef but that guy hits harder than anyone in the UFC. JDS by pace and barrage.
