It all depends on what we are getting back for him.
- Legitimate scoring threat
- Top-line player on 29 other teams in the NHL
- Elite talent with the puck
- Not THE go-to guy
- VERY soft
- Folds under pressure
Phil is an amazing hockey player and if we are to trade him we should be getting an amazing hockey player in return. Preferably one who initiates contact and thrives in pressure situations.
I believe Phil was brought here by Brian Burke to be our go-to guy, but the truth is, he isn't that type of hockey player. He's not a guy that should be put on the ice when a team is down by a goal and told "Go and tie this up for us", because he simply doesn't handle pressure well at all. ESPECIALLY if the opposition is targeting him physically. Phil Kessel should be a team's second best forward. It's that simple.
We are the most embarrassing fanbase in the NHL - there's a difference between passion and stupidity.
Might as well be those posters on the TML Facebook page.
Be serious for a moment, Kessel shows little pride playing head to head against Seguin, he floats around on the perimeter scared of contact, Seguin outfought 2 guys for the puck on the opening goal. Those are little things but they add up.
Its not even a surprise anymore, Kessel's lack of drive against the Bruins speaks volumes of his heart and soul, not much there. You want talent, Kessel is it. You want heart, pride, and soul, Kessel is no where close to having these traits.
