I'd argue he's been our best centre for a good chunk of the season. The problem with fans and "analysts" is that they won't recognize this if someone isn't putting up the points. He plays such a complete game, it's been over a month now that he's dominating the possession game, creating chances, killing the board work aspect. 14 points over his last 18 games, with little PP time, not playing with the team's best wingers.
Such a complete player. Too bad people only looking at stats or else they would have appreciated his game much earlier than this year.
Well, Eller now has one point less than Desharnais with less role stability and without Pacioretty. And this is not to insult DD, I mean just look at Plekanec's production with and without productive wingers. The point is Eller is talented, he's just less polished than others. At worst he's a high end 3rd liner, at worst.
No offense to you but this is what bothers me the most about the entire Eller/Desharnais discussion.
Its not a zero sum competition.
Why must you put down Desharnais while complimenting Eller?
Last time I checked, they both play for the Habs.
Hmmm, not sure how I put down Desharnais there. He did very little in the last 2 games. It's the truth. So did Pacioretty (who I currently have in my avatar).
What I absolutely hate is the french media's unconditional pumping of DD whenever he has a good game vis-a-vis how they talk about the other centers on the roster. Most of them were very quiet when Desharnais got off to a rocky start, yet Eller (and Plekanec) get bashed repeatedly, even after a night like tonight when he has 3 points. And basically not a peep about Desharnais' quiet 2 games from them.
Desharnais has a 3 point type night (like the 2 games over the weekend) and they can't wait to tell us how great he is. Turn on the radio on Monday night and hear that blowhard Villeneuve call Desharnais by far our best C. Turn on the TV Tuesday night right before the game and hear Alain Crête call Desharnais clearly our #1 C.
The double standard is a joke.

You need a guy who can play on the right side. It's Pateryn or FSD (who can play it, did so last year with Markov).
Some are just waiting for Price to have one good game to bash those who are observing that Price have been globally below expectation this season. It works both ways.
If you look at the title of the thread in question, it's "When was the last time Price stole a game for us?"
So...that should settle that.
Then it evolved into a very narrow-minded undervaluing of what Price has done this season itself. The quotes from that thread speak for themselves. MOST people on the board agreed that he had two bad games and that he'd bounce back. Some took it too far and in that situation, you develop the desire for Carey to have them eat a crow sandwich. Oh, what? One game is not a large sample size, but 2 is?
Wow.. I feel like I'm talking to a brick wall, english must not be your first language right?
Don't even know what to say..
Maybe... just try and re-read my other reply a few times, you're bound to understand it eventually.. (hopefully).
I have over 10000 posts in this boards. I can understand english pretty well.
Anyways, no matter what you were trying to say, basically you were ready to trade Price away after 2 bad starts. That's what you said. You were making trade proposal sending Price away right after the loss against the Islanders. That's your take on Price.
nice to have secondary scoring on road games when your top lines are matched by last change. quite the bickering. we have some talented centers, and all of them are contributing and spreading the workload.
the same line won't necessarily dominate from one game to the next, but there is always a line that does step up to the plate this season. you need this contribution to win playoff series when the going gets tough. we have a TEAM, and for that, i am excited.
i don't understand why people are bothered if desharnais (or pacioretty tonight0 wasn't as visible the passed 2 games yada yada. he was the **** in boston and was a big part of that road win. tonight someone else stepped up. where is the fuss? seriously.
I thought they were pretty positive , saying he has improved a lot this year.
They questioned his consistancy and rightfully so.
Dunno what's the problem there.
You guys are quite touchy when talking about Lars.
Bergeron threw him maybe 1 bone, after denigrating him about 10 times.
I guess it's a matter of perception.
Gauthier was pretty positive, Gaston and Bergeron were their usually negative selves.
Globally below expectation? Price has the most wins and Habs still lead the East after half the season.
Try the mushrooms instead of the mescaline.
You sound like a really smart dude. Keep up the good work champ.
Wins are far from being correlated to goaltender performance, and most here agree. We have one of the best offensive of the league this season, and the 4th best team for shots against.
Yes, Price have been below exptectation for a 6.5m$ goaler most of the season. He caused more loss than win. Doesn't mean I can't recognize when he has a solid game like tonigh and hope he stay constant, which I doubt and hope I'm wrong.
