I would keep him for now, trade him in the offseason. Unless we can get a big winger like Perry (signed). It has to be a good return.

Funny thing is the same guys who are on the 'trade Kessel' train are the same ones that were on the 'Kadris a bust' train. Always the same names that pop up.

Not me. I was always pro Kadri. But Kessel is a talented player. I just want players that fit this team more (Carlyle's system).

Always supported Kess, because he's a Leaf, and I cheer for the Leafs, but holy **** this dude has no heart and no hustle.

He's a complimentary player. Not someone to build around. Can't pay someone like that 7, 7.5.

Here are a couple of videos depicting why I have a bit of comtempt for Kessel as of late:

Giveaway on Gionta's empty-net goal against the Habs:

Weak boardplay against the Sens leading to Alfy's goal:

I was actually SO pissed when Alfredsson scored that goal. He's on the boards and is frightened to death someone is going to initiate contact, gives it away, then goes from his wing to the opposite wing chasing Zach Smith.

It is still way, way, way too early to pass judgment on Kadri however this game really showed us how fearless he is and kind of reminds me of Tucker (except I don't see Kadri fighting). Let's see how well Kadri does in the playoffs.

As for Kessel, trade him. Please let Anaheim want him and give us Perry! PPPLLLEEEAAASSSEEE

Ya sure, lets trade the most talented player on the team because of 1 bad game facing one of the toughest teams in the NHL. The team played pretty good considering it was a back to back game again, against a well rested home team.

If Kessel needs better players than himself to play with then he is not a core talent.

If he needs an $8 million dollar player to play with just to be passable in Carlyle's team then he is worth no where near that kind of salary.

IMO he shouldn't get a touch more than what he is getting paid right now (because his game hasn't changed...what you see is what you get). If he expects a raise, he should expect a trade.

And in my opinion that trade is best made ASAP and before the deadline.

I do agree with this but how can you trade Kessel from a playoff position? I think hands are tied until next year / offseason.

no. the way we're playing now doesn't fully fit Kessel's style. We used to be a rush team, now we're dumping it and cycle (most of the time nothing comes out of it). Kessel would be successful in Boston's team (not because they're a better team), a team that knows how to work the corners but also is an excellent transition team. Recall the three goals against us today.

How can you trade Kessel from a playoff position? Imagine playing a playoff series against Boston with Kessel on the team. This team has been very shaky lately and could very well fall out of the playoffs if they don't snap out of it. You need to think of the future unless you are a strong contender for the cup. This team isn't.

Yup, time to trade him.

Leafs will not see anything close to what they gave up for him though. Doubt he even gets a single 1st rounder back.

Cant let this little puke and his agent take advantage of us. It is in Toronto's best interest to sever all ties immediately and reclaim some long-term assets.

So RC is a bad coach then?

no but he's stubborn and isn't really flexible. I get him trying to implement a defensive system that will make us better defensively long term, but the roster can't play Carlyle hockey as it is.
