Two-way defenceman that is physical. Not the fastest but he's usually well positioned. Good first pass, strength is definitely defending.

This could also be a showcase for Pateryn to show if he can be the big physical D we need instead of going out and trading for one (or signing one this summer).
I seriously doubt he sees a second of ice time this weekend unless Kaberle is totally crap. Never mind, can't wait to see Pateryn play!

I think he's gonna surprise a lot of people if he plays a simple game. Down the road, I see him becoming an effective 5-6th Dman. His upside? Well without the ability of fighter. and a less offensive game he might end up as a guy playing D likes Bieksa or Mark Eaton

He's got NHL size and strength, plays a solid two way game although this year he's really picked it up in the offensive zone. Knows how to use his size, not overly physical but can dish out some big time hits. Has a cannon of a shot and can move the puck well enough. Plays a smart, safe game in his own end.

Not a lot of holes in his game either, I would like to see him get quicker but even if he doesn't play it should be a great experience for him. He's earned the call up as he's been the Dogs best defensemen of late.
In before the mass flooding on Pateryn for 2nd pp unit posts

Dan Kramer ‏@DanKramerHabs (A great guy to follow for Bulldogs info)

#Habs Greg Pateryn is big, strong, rarely out of position. Good shot. Decent power, but importantly gets it through. Skating only average.

Pateryn is the 7th D ?
That may be the only reason that Habs call him before St-Denis. I think St-Denis is much better than Pateryn. Even Beaulieu and Tinordi are better than Pateryn.

Not lately. Pateryn has been great coming back from his injury. He's ahead of all three of those players in Hamilton. He plays the first powerplay unit with Holland at the point.

Pretty certain Beaulieu is on their 1st PP unit.

Although Lefebvre never really loads up 1 unit, usually the lesser forwards play with the better point men and visce-versa, so it's hard to tell what is their 1st unit.

He's not as offensively gifted as Beaulieu, but he has a rocket that he can keep on net.
