i'm just saying, he's 27, he's on waivers, and I don't see how he could be any worst than Armstrong, I never said we NEEDED him right now nor that we had the space for him.

Sorry for bringing up a discussion about something thats happening out of town in the out of town thread.
I didn't talk down to you. You asked 'why not' , and I answered by pointing out several reasons why it makes no sense to pick him up.

Where is the guy who kept telling me how the Oilers were going to "be fine"?

They are in free fall mode and would be embarrassed on a nightly basis if Dubnyk wasn't playing fairly well. This is what happens when elite young players get to play every night with plugs like horcoff, whitney and smyth. That isn't even mentioning the unreal stupid management on that team.

Glad the Bruins won in regulation! 4 points up on the Leafs with a game in hand, feels good.

Their management is dumb. Worst thing they could do is panic though. Finish the year get another good pick, beef up the D in the offseason and work towards the playoffs next year.

It's a marathon not a sprint.

Or a really painful death. What a horribly runned team. I'm sorry. They are lucky the system rewards such awfulness, even at that they can't put it all together. I'd rather have a couple of seasons of "mediocrity" than to have to endure what Oilers fans have and will continue to endure until they get someone competent there.

So you think that some teams would be interested in just slightly disrupting the Bruins world....but no. We have Palushaj that gets picked....but nobody picks Bourque.

I have no doubt that the Bruins will make a big splash as far as trade is concerned and that they won't have to give nothing big in return.

If your the GM of their team the marathon turns into a sprint to not lose your job.

Their biggest problem is they have a bunch of kids on their top 6 with no quality veterans.

Bourque is a journeyman. Palushaj was a top 10 prospect last year. Comparing apples to oranges.

If Boston gets a big name(Iginla Perry etc) they'll have to pay big because there are a lot of buyers and few true sellers. Those guys will cost a top prospect, roster players and a 1st.

Yeah. They will possibly give some young guys in Providence like Jordan Caron and Sauvé, two guys with some skills but always on the bubble.

Cap hits are going up without the back diving deals.

Nick Kypreos ‏@RealKyper
Not confirmed but the number I heard last nite was in the ball park of 66M over 8 yrs. Aav of 8.25 for #ducks Getzlaf.

8.25/year is a lot for a guy averaging 20 goals a year. Very good playmaker but so was Gomez. :-p

Wow the Ducks paid their #1c over 8 million to keep him from leaving as a free agent WAT WERE DEY THINKING

It's almost as if Getzlaf had all the leverage or something. Would have offered him 2 years at 3m take it or leave it no big loss.

Getzlaf probably just said "you don't have anyone else like me on the roster" and the Ducks caved.
