Halischuk to Milwaukee, Conditioning assignment

So, who will trade for him? Also, does this change your mind about the Arnott trade to NJ?

Review: Arnott for Halischuk and Magnus Hellberg (2nd rder picked up from NJ)

Losing Arnott wasn't a bad thing, he was lazy and not the player he once was by the time he left.

I think Hellberg alone was worth it.

I like Halishuk but he wasn't producing. Others are in the same boat but bring things to the table he doesn't.

I think NJ would LOVE to have Hellberg.

Funny Arnott had 13 goals for NJ after the trade. Halischuk had 15 for us last season.

Well, you had to see this coming a mile away. He just isn't the same player this year and definitely not playing like an NHLer. Maybe he played above his head for most of last season? He had a few lucky goals + 15.6% shooting percentage... it probably wasn't sustainable. He's definitely underachieving this year though.

Have a feeling he's done as a Predator, especially if one of Butler or Boychuk work out. We'll probably see him on waivers in a couple weeks when the conditioning stint is over, or traded for a 7th rounder if we're lucky. If our waiver claim guys fail and Halischuk lights it up, maybe we'll give him another shot.

Do I feel different about the Arnott trade? Not at all. Getting a high 2nd round pick was good enough for me. Halischuk was just icing on the cake. Trading Arnott was addition by subtraction looking back at it.

That is always the first thing I think of too. Too bad I really thought Hali could become a high energy bottom sixer who could consistently pot 10-15 goals a year. He has been hardly noticeable at all this year. What happened?

Could it possibly be a coaching staff that does not know how to develop players; just a thought.

Yes and no. Look at defense and goal. We do well there. Our forwards are usually good defensively. What we fail to do is develop the offensive side of their game well.

Halischuk outperformed all expectations last season ... he's in a slump this year. He is a 4th round pick with decent but not great AHL stats.

I wouldn't say he's in a slump. I would say the whole team is in a slump. No one is setting anyone up. The few times anyone tries, they seem to overshoot the target of the pass whomever it may be. Halischuk just got the short end of the stick because he is young and not a vet. He has been benched for 7 games this season, more than anyone else outside McGrattan, who is no longer around, and Blum. The only players to play in less games than him this year are Blum (scratched 8 times), Gill (injury, scratched 8 times), Hornqvist (injury, scratched 10 times) and Mason. Heck even worthless Yip has played in more games.

My thoughts are Yip should be the one traded before Halischuk.

"worthless Yip" is getting more done with his ice time this season than Halischuk is. Yip, before injury, was still moving his skates, winning pucks, and is 4th in g/60 and 3rd in pts/60. Compared to last season, Halischuk tanked. Compared to his teammates, he's putting up Gill/Hannan type offensive numbers ... worst offensive numbers of any forward on the team besides McGrattan .... he's tied with Pekka for points.

Halischucks problem, and forever will be, is moving his feet. When he moves his feet, and skates hard, he is a fine 3rd line forward. When he stands and watches, he is a fine "2 week conditioning assignment on his way to not having a job forward"

I like Hali, but I think that on day one, Boychuk and Butler both bring more. Halischuk is a dime a dozen player that every team in the league has three of.

Halischuk scored a PP goal for the Ads tonight which is amazing because the PP has been awful lately.

Edit: Two goals for Halischuk.

Halischuk just missed an empty net shorthanded goal in the last minute. That goal would have made a hatter with his PP and even strength goals tonight. Thanks Nashville for sending us a scoring machine!

Would have given him a PP goal and ES goal and a SH goal since that was after Ford's delay of game penalty.

Aaron Sims said Halischuk is far too good to be in the AHL.
