They play like a bunch of Rookies right now. Flashes of brilliance interrupted by very brutal breakdowns.
The balance between young talent and Veterans just isn't there. Lavi's up-tempo system doesn't help either. Last season was fraud - the presence of Jagr and Carle (hate to admit it) made the difference.

Gagne has been invisible there so far. Hartnell...nah.
I still think Read came back to soon. I have my doubts if hes really going to be 100 percent this season. I agree the only 2 guys I trust with the puck in the nuetral zone are Jake and Giroux. Thats another reason to miss Pronger. The stretch pass.

We have 3 more points than CBJ and they have a game in hand!

Last place is a real possibility and of course it is the year that they changed the lottery!

I think I read that this rule won't be effective this year. Anyway, the last place still has the best shot at getting the first pick.

I really don't think this is a 30th place hockey team.

I think that if the Flyers finished last overall and had the best shot at the top pick I think the worst they could end up is 2nd OV. I dont think anyone can drop by more then 1 slot. I think thats how it still is.

WE have a difficult time in the neutral zone. Last year i can remember so many times jagr or voracek being able to stickhandle through the neutral zone and set up plays but now we only have voracek.

The best teams are the teams with very skilled players that can skate the puck into the zone. The rangers were able to do this with MDZ, McDonough , Nash, Hagelin,

Pitt can do it with crosby, malkin, letang, neal

It seems like the only players we have that can skate the puck into the zone are giroux and voracek.

Our 2nd line is very terrible at gaining the ozone but when they do they can really cycle well.

3rd line is probably 2nd best line at entering the ozone and establishing possession.
And when they do get the puck in the offensive zone via the dump and chase (rarely do they skate into the zone) they are too slow to get the puck and it ends up being a turnover anyway

Oh it is.
Coburn, Timonen, Couturier are the most notable in our group who have not been able to clear the zone on a regular basis.
That first goal for Pitt was a perfect example of that. Couturier shouldn't have been playing for the rest of that period.
Gotta question a lot of the decisions by Lavy lately, he's not benching guys who need to be benched. There's no accountability.
Also why the **** would you pull Bryz? It's laughable at this point.

And how often does our offense score because they force turnovers in the other team's zone? It happens. Our zone exits aren't awful by any means, and they're often able to get it out. Getting through the neutral zone doesn't always work out, and they often don't get far enough to change lines when needed, but getting it out of the zone isn't a glaring issue. You can't expect the team to clear their zone every single time, there's going to be issues occasionally.

I don't like saying it, but our season is pretty much over. Too many problems to fix and not enough time to do it.

If you really watch the game and pay attention to it, you will see that their breakouts are ECHL caliber. They exit their own end cleanly on maybe one out of every four attempts.

This team does nothing well.

You can't bench everybody. And he pulled Bryz because they already used the time out.

Penguins turned the tables on what the Flyers used to have to do to beat the Penguins: Shut up and play.

Bryz was pulled because he was obviously gassed. The third goal he was down on his stomach and couldn't get up, the tying goal he went down on his knees and didn't look to me like he came back square to the shooter. It was also a terrible decision by Gervais. He had an out to clear the zone, instead he tried a short pass to Couturier who wasn't open and thus it was a turnover.

And they won't be bad enough to get Seth Jones unless they somehow win the lottery. They will pick somewhere 10-20.

When are we going to stop making excuses for him, Bryz is getting out goaltended. Where there tough saves to be made. Sure there were, every game there are tough ones. But he's not making them. When was the last time he stole the game. Too few and far between. Flyers opposition goalies are pulling saves out of their butt. Bryz is not. The excuse is "well theres nothing he could do about that one". The opposition goalies are finding ways to stop those kinds of shots. He demoralizes the team with weak play

I think Couturier will be able to carry the puck out of the zone eventually once he gets a little bit more athletic. Kimmo cant do it anymore and coburn is basically the only d man other than schenn that even skates it out sometimes.

looking at points and games played....we are tied for 6th worst in the leauge. Based on last years #'s...the 8th seed needs 54 points to make the playoffs. The Flyers would need to go 15-7-1 the rest of the way. Have we shown ANY indication we can do this? Nope! It's not often we have seasons like this one. Take advantage and be SELLERS this year. Trade all you can if the deals make us better next year and going forward. Keep G, Jake, Simmonds, the Schenns, Hartnell, Couts. Maybe Read too unless someone overpays by a bunch.

You know what? I'm sure this is going to be unpopular, but I'm not adverse to moving Hartnell. First off, let me say I love what he brings. Secondly, let me say that it's pretty much what Simmonds brings, minus maybe some respect in the locker room, due to Hartnell's years playing the game. I'm not saying trade him for the sake of trading him, but if you get a pretty good offer, maybe a younger scoring winger, or some combo including that and w/e else, you take it. Just my opinion
