Blaming Bryzgalov for last night reflects poorly on those who do it.

Bryz hasn't had much time to rest. If we had a competent backup, I think we'd see a better effort from him.

Baicker mentioned last night that she's never seen him more tired.

Bryz isn't a perfect goaltender, and his contract is scary, so sure, there's issues. But he had a great end of the season last year, and a great start here. His drop in skill reads as fatigue to me.

Flyers need a backup like Bob. What would it take to acquire him back, Couturier?

Bob plays better when not a backup/actively challenging for the main position. He needs starts.

Wonder what it'd take to nab Bishop from Ottawa.

Aside from the wins, how has Bob looked? I haven't watched any BJ games recently. Fixing his weaknesses that he had here?

I was joking about the above, but this is from the Blue Jackets board:

"Bob stole 2 points for us.
We were careless with the puck, gave up (it seemed like to me) a lot of golden opportunities that Vancouver didn't capitalize on. But Bob was amazing. He's hot right now."

This is exactly why I'm asking. We've seen him be hot in the past, however he was lacking in some areas regarding is technique.

Don't know, if it should be here, but here's a tweet from one of most reliable guys as long as czech hockey is concerned:
@robertzaruba
The longest ever hockey game in the Czech extraliga (since 1937), C.Budejovice-Vitkovice, 113:51. Loosing goalie next PHI Flyer Jakub Kovar.

Kovar was number one goalie for Czechs during the last year WC.

I wanted to keep Bob, but he wanted to start and with Bryz's contract that was impossible. Holmgern really messed up here IMO. Snider deserves some blame here too, but the majority falls on Paul.

Quick, sign him, bring him over, but when he performs too well, trade him as he might negatively affect Bryz's confidence.

How? The rumor was that it was orders from Snider to go balls to the walls for a goalie...

I believe he has no interest playing in North America. Could be wrong though.

Why not try and snatch Markström from Florida, he needs a fresh start

He was the one who gave that contract to Bryz. I don't blame Bryz for taking the money offered. Snider is not the one who handles contract negotiations. He issued the edict to get a goalie yes, but the money and contract length is the responsibility of Homer.

According to capgeek, if the flyers buyout bryz, they will be paying him until 2027.

Compliance buyout means no cap hit. From CapGeek:

"BUYOUTS
During the ordinary course buyout periods in June 2013 and June 2014, teams will be permitted two compliance buyouts. Compliance buyouts follow the same formula as ordinary-course buyouts but do not count against the cap."

EDIT: Looks like 23 million well spent to me!

Maybe making his life a living hell and driving him back to Russia would be the better approach.

This times a million. Anybody with half a brain could see in his rookie year that he was the real deal.

The 2011 collapse came from injuries and Bobs one weakness being exposed. Snider should have never panicked and went goalie hunting.

Playing devil's advocate, Steve Mason sees your bet and raises you a Calder trophy.

What exactly does he need a fresh start from? Florida's bringing him along slowly. And the likelihood of Florida parting with him is about zero.

Raycroft calls the raise with his Calder and Carey raises with a Vezina!

Agreed. I think anyone can see that Theodore and Clemmensen are stopgaps. Don't want to rush Markstrom considering he's the top goalie prospect in the league.

I think he could need to get a shot at being the second goalie and I don´t see that happening in Florida anytime soon

I've seen a few of his games. He'll still do that thing where he's phenomenal and then some random crap sneaks by.
