Those are much better (other than adding National in front of the conferences) and I think that's what TSN was originally calling them when the first 4-division proposal came out. Midwest just seems like pandering to the American crowd. No one refers to any part of Canada as midwest Canada.
Note: Detroit is very much a part of the midwest - yet another reason I think it's crazy that Detroit is moving east, on top of the issue of balanced conferences and existing rivalries. Colorado, Dallas, Nashville and Winnipeg are not part of the midwest. The NHL is 3/7 on that one.
No region in Canada is techincally part of the "midwest" as the term refers specifically to an American region. With that said, however, Winnipeg is definately in a "midwestern" area of the continent, and Manitoba does have it's border with midwestern states (Minnesota specifically), so on that basis, it does kind of suite us. But all in all, I think they could have come up with a better division name.

It would be pretty epic if Seattle and Portland (my hometown) got teams at the same time! Instant rivalry, decent numbers of hockey fans in both cities, but kind of crazy to launch two brand-new teams so geographically close together. Sounds like Bettman might go for it...
There would be the potential for a great Pacific NW regional rivalry between Portland, Seattle and Vancouver, no doubt.
Can't wait for this - I'll be able to talk the missus into at least one road trip each to minni and Chi-town. The downside is that I'm expected to take her shopping, which means every single f'ing Target store in the state. minni is covered by Target stores. It seems as though every street in minni has one at the end of the block - just another reason to hate minni. Well, at least there's Fleet Farm - the bigger, better Princess Auto, for consolation.
Does this mean we get to troll the minni boards for every game? I can't wait for all the ********** minni fans crying 'cause they keep losing to the Jets! Unfortunately, all that the redneck minni fans will be able to do is inarticulately rage against us.
I feel sorry for the neckbeard minni fans - they're going to be at the bottom looking up at Chicago, Dallas, Nashville, St. Louis and Winnipeg. Even worse? They'll be looking up at the Avalanche!
The above is all in jest, of course (excepting the first paragraph) I'm just doing what I can to further the rivalry!
I think Target is the least of your worries if you will be traveling to Minneapolis and St. Paul for a game. Have you ever heard of this monstrosity?!
Here are some interesting notes about the MOA from their website
.57 miles is the walking distance around one level of Mall of America
4.3 miles of total store front footage
7 Yankee Stadiums can fit inside the Mall
32 Boeing 747s could fit inside the Mall
258 Statues of Liberty could lie inside the Mall
520+ stores are located in Mall of America
4.2 million square feet of gross building area
If Mount Rushmore was divided into individual monuments, a president could reside in each of the Mallís four courts
I disagree with your disagree. WEM is pretty wicked as far as malls go. Lots of upgrades and it feels much more modern than it used to.
Plus it has sea lions! Sea lions!
Well, I have to disagree with your disagree on my disagree. Agree?
The configuration of the mall is just bizarre as well. I just don't like WEM in general. It doesn't appeal to me. The only thing I like about it is the waterpark, rollercoaster and Burbon Street. The rest, well, you can have it.
