Well now we know he isn't giving a 'hometown' discount.

Not saying it is a horrible contract, it isn't really for your #1 guy, but it is a lot. Could they even pay Perry the same? In real money terms, I mean? I know they do not have cap trouble.

Guess he didn't pull a Brady

Good news for the Ducks though, he's more important than Perry.

No hometown discount. Not many teams would've been able to offer that without moving people or him being actually interested. Good for the Ducks.

If he got 8.25 before being a UFA, I wonder what he would have got as a UFA.

Wow. The fact that they ended up with 8.25 simply means that he started negotiating at a much higher salary.

Holy overpayment Batman.

It's the only way the Ducks were going to keep him. They had to pay him...

They had no choice but to make sure he stayed. Gotta keep him. Great for Getzlaf and great for the Ducks.

Can Anaheim give Perry 8.25M? Kyper was saying about three-four weeks ago that Corey Perry could make 1-2M just from endorsements if he signed with a team like Toronto/Montreal.

8.25M + 2M is 10M a year.

This money is normal. I was thinking more in the 7.5 range but 8.25m isn't a stretch by any means. Zajac I didn't think was grossely overpaid. This is just what players make nowadays.

Perry is definitely gone if we're paying the price of 8.25 for Getzlaf. I'm not a fan of the term at that price.
