For everyone who continues to post stupidity like,

"Thank goodness for the lockout" with a sarcastic background, really, really, really needs to learn what they are talking about.

This contract is exactly what is to be expected from the lockout. No more fake cap-hits. The cap hits will now always be higher, and the same amount of money is being dished out as other cap circumventing contracts.

The lockout reduced player share to 50%. Thats all that matters. Every team could max out on their caps, and it still wouldnt matter, because all players would have their actual salaries reduced to equal 50%.

Since rumours suggest that Perry doesn't want to sign in Anaheim, the Ducks should trade him and fill the rest of their roster now. They will need a #2C, some wing depth and a capable defenseman.

How about you read the rest of the thread? I said the signing was market value. We are talking about his production.

I'd say this is right about on par with his UFA value. He might have gotten a little more as a UFA, but clearly there was little (if any) home town discount given.

That being said - I don't think Ducks fans can complain... and if they want to, there are many teams who would love to take him off your hands, despite this contract.

If Perry signed an identical deal I think we can afford it, but if hes asking for more then hes gone.

Holy crap. Great signing for the Ducks.
But the cap hit. Wow.

ROR and Stastnys trade value just skyrocketed.

But I shudder what we will have to pay Duchene soon...

Ryan (5.562) - Holland (1.295) - Etem (.9)
Cogliano (2.67) - Koivu (3) - Winnik (1.8)
Beleskey (1) - Bonino (.7) - Maroon (.6)

Fowler (4) -Allen (3.5)
Beachemin (3.5) -Souray (3.5)
Sbisa (2.6) -Vatanen/Lindholm (1.775)
Lovejoy (.8)

Hiller (4.5)
Fasth (2.4)

Total 62.102

If management doesn't want to spend that much they can ship off Hiller and call up Andersen to be the backup.
They could also let Koivu go, promote Bonino to his spot, and sign a 4th line FO specialist. As well, shipping out Hiller also saves a huge chunk of change. And when it comes down to it, keeping Perry trumps those small moves.

Are you ****ing kidding me? What he's done in the past has no bearing? How else do you put together a long-term contract?

So you are saying this:

19 goals, 69 points
19 goals, 76 points
11 goals, 57 points

gets you 8.25 per?

I think Anaheim will regret this 5-6 years down the road.

Pretty sure they were fighting against 13 year cap circumvention deals like Richards' (well 9 years in his case), Parise's, or Suter's. This is a straight $8.25M per year. The cap hits in this league will be going up, the market isn't all ****ed up from dummy contracts.

Also:

Jordan Clarke @yyjordan
If Ryan Getzlaf doesn't live up to that contract there's going to be hell toupée.

He shouldn't if his conditioning is good. Sundin used to play the power game, and he was fine till his late 30's.

I think this contract is market value. Suter/Parise got 7.5 on 13 years. .75 more than that, with 5 less years for a player of similar caliber is fair.

Good for the Ducks. I think this means Perry won't sign. I'm quite sure the Ducks have offered him the same deal, and if he were to accept, he would've done it with Getzlaf.

He said he can be replaced internally. The guy currently switching off between 2nd and 4th line duties for instance. He didn't say that person was going to be his equal.

Im not even talking about his contract with you. You said "hes not a 70 point player, hes a 90 point player". To which I said, I doubt it. You think he will maintain his 90 point pace, I do not think the same. Whats so hard to comprehend?

No, he's on the big team actually. I think Nick Bonino brings a lot of the same things as he does, and has fit in well enough on that line when Koivu gets bumped up. The more pressing concern is to get a 2nd line center, but if Holland's ready to step into that role, then we could go Getzlaf-Holland-Bonino-UFA for center depth and be just fine.

Go look at Parise's salary for the first 8 years, and then come back. And Getzlaf's play is so much more than points its not even funny.

For anyone saying its an overpayment. Name a replacement and the price to get him and to pay him.

Cant lose Gardiner, Schultz, Getzlaf and Perry in 2-3 years.

Plus... The players just lost a half season due to the lockout. I dont see too many hometown discounts being signed.

Apparently, that he's maintained it in the past. Multiple times.

I'm curious where you're having trouble. Does his point per game production not actually play a role here? Funny... when it was Crosby it was all people could talk about. Not the numbers he ended up having when the season was over, but the numbers he produced while playing.
