Nashville put Brian McGrattan on waivers.. People won't agree but the flames should claim him.. Let him and Jackman switch in and out, he would be the tough guy we need to stick up for our team.

He's a known commodity, I can see it happen, considering Iggy expressed to Feaster last year the need for a guy who can drop em. Not to mention Feaster continuous hunt for toughness and the frustration of Hartley because of our soft play and not sticking up for each other..
Sounds like Dallas is tanking they just traded Ryder for Cole, seriously without MTL significantly adding this is a huge steal for MTL.
Dallas added a third round pick.
I can understand why Montreal moved Cole - they free up a lot of cap space at the end of the season and get rid of a alleged locker-room distraction - but this is a little peculiar for Dallas. The difference between the isn't all that much, but Cole does have a higher offensive potential than Ryder. Maybe they needed a contract to ensure they reach the cap floor and Ryder wasn't willing to resign.

I think a lot of it may of had to do with the fact that Cole is signed beyond this year and Ryder is not
8.25/year for Getzlaf. Sorry but wow, no way. That's WAY too much.
Parise makes and average 10 million his first 8 years, M.Richards makes an average of 9.5 million his first 6 years, Kovy makes 9.875 average for the first 8 years but in the new CBA you can't have the last 3-5 years be joke salary years.

I would take all those guys over Getzlaf except maybe Kovalchuk because of personal preference.
Getzlaf had 7 goals last year. Granted I don't watch a lot of Anaheim games but has he really done enough this year to warrant a deal like this?

He actually had 11, he also had 46 assists, that was his lowest point total since his rookie season and it was a year in which Anaheim sucked pretty bad. You don't watch him and you're even aware of it yourself, I mean I don't even like Getzlaf but I would love to have what he brings on the Flames over any of those players. He has lit it up this season so far, he has 27pts in 22gp I'd say that's not too shabby.
Actually my honest first reaction was WHOA 8.25 million no thanks, but he was a pending UFA, the Ducks are pretty screwed without him and it is a bit under market value. When you think about it it's an ok deal.

Fair enough. Yeah I don't watch Ducks games but I was like WOW no way would I take him at 8.25. The more I sit and think about it, yeah, the more it kind of makes sense. I still wouldn't pay that much for him myself though lol.
Wonder what the Ducks will do about Perry though, who in my mind should make more than Getz.

It's certainly high, but as Abbotsford Heat said, this should have been expected. Teams can no longer tack on extra years at 1M or less just to artificially lower the cap hit. These kind of contracts (8M +) are going to be the norm for the upper tier and elite guys from now on.
The Perry domino will fall next and Iginla's trade value will be sky high
Also after the pain of next year's cap of $64.3 I expect the salary cap to grow substantially. In a few years I would say the cap ceiling will be close to 80 million. So the Ducks will have lots of room to pay Perry and Getzlaf $16.5 million.

Ducks have an internal budget. That's what's going to limit them.
