What do you guys think Perry is going to get? Can the Ducks afford to pay another player that kind of money?

And what does this mean for Kessel? I was hoping we wouldn't have to go higher than 6.5 on Kessel but now I'm scared.

Perry would get 7+ area IMO. I think we can sign kessel for less.

I'm pretty sure they've offered Perry the same deal. Perry on the wing is just as good as Getzlaf is down the middle.

I don't think Perry wants to sign there. If he did, he would've accepted the deal with Getzlaf.

If Perry is a FA, we will have to offer him 8.5/YR for 7 years. I'd do it, and then ship out Kessel. Can't afford to have these 2 make 16M/YR.

owners have to pay the players a certain percentage of HRR, so not sure what your complaining about, would you just let Getzlaf walk if you were the ducks?

I have a feeling that Getzlaf will regress greatly after signing that contract.

If he was asking and getting $8.25 mil/ yr, I am glad that the Ducks re-signed him. If Perry is asking for just as much, then we're not going to see him in a Leafs uniform anytime soon. Plain and simple. They are both great hockey players but not good enough to take up ~13% (each) of your cap space.

EDIT: I'm also willing to bet that Kessel re-signs for less then 6.5 on a 5-8 year deal. Dude isn't actually greedy, he just wants to play some hackey.

I love posts like this.

People who wouldn't want Getzlaf at 8.25, but would gladly take him at 7.5, so they can give some 4th liner an extra 700k.

Nah, we probably wait until 2016, when we can pick up one of Stamkos, E. Staal, Kopitar, Kesler or Backes. Everyone hold their breath.

Another Leaf fan fantasy disappears in a puff of blue and white smoke.

Well, it's Kadri or bust for the top centre job it appears. I don't see any other options right now.

To me, I think that Bobby Ryan is going to be the guy that gets moved out of Anaheim.

At 5.1 mill, he's being paid to be a #1b centreman and now with Getzlaf taking up a huge chunk of coin, I think its going to be a priority to move Ryan and try to sign Perry.

Ryan is 5th. for face-offs on the Ducks.

He isn't playing center.

Has the ability to play centre. Was drafted out of the O, playing centre.

Regardless, he's being paid first line money (like Grabo) and to me, he's gotta be the one moved. The question is, would you rather have Corey Perry or Bobby Ryan.

Getz was never an option IMO, rumor was always that he would resign.

Perry wants free agency, just not sure where he wants to go.

I see no point in a Kessel for Perry trade if Perry plans on hitting free agency no matter what.(he could very well be interested in the leafs.)
