I think Giroux will go for around 7.5M, max years.

Rumors Heatley might be going to the Devils. Kfna out in Minny is reporting he already waived his NTC and isn't on the trip with the team to Nashville.

Just a rumor from the main boards, so take it for what its worth.

That's a huge amount for getzlaf but anh is a budget team, they can afford absorbing that kind of cap hit to keep their best player and captain

I can bet you that if the Ducks don't, the Pens will.

Pit can't afford to add another guy with a cap hit over 8 mil per year if they plan on having an NHL Defense

Was thinking the same thing. What do they do when Malkin and Letang are up next year? They will need to pay them a plenty, Perry just doesn't make sense from a money aspect over there.

They have 10.6 in cap free next season. If they took 8 from that, do you think they could fill in 2.6M for at least 3 more players (3 forwards more than likely) to make it 20 players (12 forwards, 6 d-men and 2 goalies)?

I think they could keep Malkin for $8.7M/yr like now, unless he asks for more or wants to play for a team where he is the undisputed #1C. Letang would probably be replaced. They have a ridiculous number of talented young D-men in their system that would be on ELCs. The weakness of the Pens then would be their bottom 6.

As a GM of a team though would you be willing to plug in rookie defenders in there and hope for a cup run? They let Letang walk, they will have big time issues on their back end. He wouldn't be replaced by a rookie or second year guy.

I am not a GM, but If I was a GM I wouldn't. However, if I was GM of the Pens (hah, would never happen, I hate them too much ) I would probably take that risk since I have 2 superstar Centers that can carry the team. The offense would be top heavy, but can win games. They can go with the saying that a good offense is the best defense.

Malkin is coming here to play on G's wing. Pens fans are already ******** that Jagr scorned them to come to Philly, time to do it with another great foreign born Pittsburgh star

Can somebody cue me in on how this realignment plan got approved? How is there only going to be 14 teams in the west versus 16 in the East? Seems like a total **** show to me. Oh, and the toughest division in hockey just got even tougher. The Atlantic is going to be a ***** for at least the next decade+.

I honestly think that's why they have been stockpiling a ton of PMD's through draft. Just on the chance Letang walks.

Getzlaf. Ducks. Why? (?????????)

(This is from a purely selfish Flyers perspective).
