That's the kind of contract I would've expected him to land on UFA markets. Good for him, I guess.

That 8.5 cap hit pretty much is going to make it hard to land Perry as well, what do you figure Perry wants a Parise cap hit?

I think ANA regrets this deal in two years.

Whew...That's a nasty contract. I guess it might have been worse if he had left however.

Ducks lose Getzlaf, they're in a world of hurt. They lose Getzlaf, they probably lose Perry as well, not that it seems he wants to stay there anyways.

I wonder if Getzlaf will continue to play well, or if he will go back to floating more. He can be lazy at times, but for that contract... man he better produce.

1 year and $1.5m (annually) more than we gave Koivu, and Koivu didn't have nearly the resume as Getzlaf does. Anaheim did what they had to do.

This is the new normal. You won't have 12-15 year deals with $1m years at the end. The salaries of top players were $10M in a lot of cases.

You can't compared pre-lockout with post-lockout contracts. Just like you can't compare deals done with a $50M cap vs a $75M cap.

If you want to feel better about the Wild, Havlat has six points in 20 games for the Sharks and is injured now and was on the fourth line before that, and James Sheppard is in their top nine. And Burns is injured (again).

Pretty much what you would expect from a player like him. Huge physical playmaker with a hell of shot that he doesn't use enough. Would love to have him on our squad for that price.

Life is good with Shep being the best ex-Wild player on the Sharks.

That's where our typical injury riddled luck went...

Stallberg looks to be hurt and not minor.

EDIT: Victor is back on ice after looking like someone shot him in the leg.

The Avs are really taking it to the Blackhawks now. If its in a white sweater it is getting hit.
