It was either Burke or MacLean right? I'd say Burke got the start, can't find a box score.

Easier question.

Where was the game played?

Yeah, Sean Burke and Kirk McLean were Florida's goalies that season, but I don't know who was in the minors that season (New Haven was their affiliate, I believe). Therefore, I have no idea which of their goalies in training camp started the first game of the preseason...actually I think Burke held out that season.

Further research does in fact tell me that New Haven was the Florida affiliate during the 1998-99 season...they split the affiliate with Carolina though (it was really fun having the Hurricanes affiliate in CT after the Whalers left...no hard feelings there ever...nah...) and the goalies in New Haven that season were Mike Fountain, Todd MacDonald, and Randy Petruk. Fountain and Petruk were Carolina property if I remember correctly (Petruk was a Carolina draft choice and Fountain was recalled to Carolina that season), therefore MacDonald is another option for Panthers training camp in 1998. Therefore our options would be Burke, McLean, and MacDonald among others...

Anyhow, the game was played in Huntsville, AL and we won 4-2.

New Question:

Three former Predators players were involved in the 2006 Conference Finals this past season (Eastern and Western Conference Finals), who were they and what teams did they represent?

You can look it up obviously, but it is a little harder...

(Trigg, you think anyone else is going to play with us?)

If those aren't the three, then I'm stumped.

OK, to clarify...I was not looking for Hutchinson because he didn't appear in the playoffs at all and didn't even play enough regular season games to get his name on the Cup. So...you have Rory Fitzpatrick (Buffalo) and Rem Murray (Edmonton), but who else was involved directly in the Conference Finals?

I figured that was the case, but I honestly can't think of a third.

I know...you got the two easy ones (granted Fitzpatrick only played two games with the Predators so it wasn't that easy, but...), but the third is what gives this question a difficult twist and makes you think a little harder than normal.

also, is there some kind of "trick" to this question? like, we traded a draft pick that was later used to select the player in question?

Directly involved includes all team personnel directly involved in the on-ice product...not including trainers, general managers, front office executive staff, but INCLUDING people outside of players only...

No...all three participants played for the Predators and were not just Predators property...they all actually suited up and took the ice for the Predators.

That was a tough one simply because you tapped into the well of some obscure players, there

When the team was announced, the public voted up 4 choices for a name...obviously "Predators" won, as it should have compared to the other three.

What WERE the other three?

Hmm this was actually when I still lived in Nashville ... I remember the Knights as one of the potential names.
