I think the experts are jumping to conclusions on that one. The Steelers needed some insurance in case Lewis does leave but they needed better depth even if Lewis stays. The Steelers won't know their chances of re-signing Lewis until free agency starts and they see the kind of offers other teams make to him.

Ah so we develop Lewis for 3 years, he has a good season, and we let him go? Yet keep Harrison, aging vet, bring back aging vet, ect.

Yep, sounds about right.

The NFL is all about the PASSING GAME. 3-4 wide on 1st down isn't uncommon. You need MORE db's in today's game. Whatever, can't wait to see Victorian get torched again.

Jumping to conclusions.

I think we re-sign Lewis.

I also think we'll re sign him. Don't see us putting Gay above him. He is just depth.

I think we'll do our best to re-sign Lewis as well, I'm just hoping he doesn't slip away to a higher bidder. As wheelz87 said, it's a passing league now and you can't have enough talent in your secondary. Keeping Lewis and adding Gay will give us a pretty decent corps of corners. I wouldn't mind adding a Safety for the future early in this draft though as there is a lot of talent at that position.

McShay has the Steelers taking Jarvis Jones in his latest mock.

Steve Breaston has decided not to get that knee procedure done. His agent says his knee just has the normal wear and tear that 6 year vets deal with. No idea if the knee issue is why the Steelers passed on signing him. Probably was that or money but he still could wind up here if interest doesn't pick up in him.

Colon has been told he's still in the Steelers plans and hasn't been asked to take a pay cut.

The Harrison situation should play out soon too.

Whoa, Jarvis Jones will not be there at 17th overall.

I saw the Steve Breaston news, I think it was money because we want to give him league minimum. Hopefully we can sign him though, we need him.

Colon's in the team's plans, so I don't see the Steelers taking a guard in the 1st round. He wouldn't save us much cap space anyways and he's been a decent LG.

I agree about Harrison.

I agree but McShay seems to think he'll slip because of the medical concerns. He's had problems with his neck in the past.

I don't think Jarvis Jones will be available at 17th. If he is available, it would be very tempting to pick him.

Bouchette reporting talks at impasse with Harrison and chances are growing he'll be released.

It will be telling how highly teams think of Kennan Lewis because this doesn't look like a good year to be a UFA CB.

The CB market is being flooded because of releases and other guys hitting UFA. Chris Gamble, Dunta Robinson, Nnamdi Asomugha, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Cary Williams, Aqib Talib, Brent Grimes, Leodis McKelvin, Tracy Porter, Glover Quin, Jerraud Powers, Arron Ross, Mike Jenkins, Kelvin Hayden, DJ Moore, Adam Jones, Rashean Mathis, Quentin Jammer and countless other name CB's on the market. Also hearing DeAngelo Hall may get released and some people seem to think the draft is deep with CB's. Looks like a rare buyers market this year. Could bode well for getting Lewis re-signed.

Yeah, no need to go into cap trouble over a deteriorating Harrison.

Same.

I love the guy and he'll always be one of my favorite Steelers of all-time...but the injuries have taken a clear toll on him, he's getting up there in age, and his level of play simply doesn't meet his level of pay.

I think, or would like I guess, if one of the premier pass rushers aren't there for our pick we should trade back and pick up an extra 3rd rounder and pick either BPA at a position of need or potentially a falling receiver.

I've read reports the Steelers brass really likes Allen.

Makes sense that they'd like him. Allen is the type of big young WR the Steelers have needed for a long time.

I wouldn't be surprised or disappointed if we picked Allen. Although I would like to trade back to the early-mid twenties to do so.

I think picking up extra picks in this draft are clutch.

I'm not sure Colbert will draft a receiver in first round. He have proven that he can get a good receiver in middle rounds. He did it with Wallace and Brown in the past.

There are plenty of quality receivers in middle rounds who can start in 2 years. Robert Woods, Stedman Bailey, Ryan Swope, Justin Hunter are pretty good prospects.

Just found it in Facebook...

I would absolutely love to have him on this team.

It would be amazing but didn't Jackson opt out of a deal that paid him a lot of money? So he's probably going to want and get a lot of money. I have a hard time seeing the Steelers as a fit given the lack of cap space unless they could do a multi-year deal with a low cap number for this upcoming season.

Cutting Harrison will free some up. They can pay him a hefty bonus too.
