They can't beat Columbus so what makes you think they can beat a team that has actual defense and goaltending?

It's absolutely classic Oilers management style to pretend not to see the obvious in an attempt to trick the fans.

The same reason why in-house replays don't show anything anti-Oiler, just try to ignore it to make the fans forget it happened.

The same reason "Oil Change" is excruciatingly positive even when things are awful. Do not look behind the curtain.

It is absolutely disrespectful in my opinion, we know the team sucks you don't have to pretend. I think the Oilers would do 100% better PR-wise if they didn't pretend everything was hunky-dory and going according to plan when it's clearly not.

Hey...I said that it defied all logic and reason.

Just a gut feeling which historically has had a pretty good record in terms of calling games.
I am even going to bet all my vcash on the game.

I suspect that the hockey gods are going to take pity on this team.

I thought they already did that at last year's draft lottery...

But alas, we have a decent record against Nashville lately... So what the hey.

Oh I wouldn't be surprised.

I don't think anyone expects the Oilers to be winless for the remainder of the season, it's just that they can't generate any momentum from when they do win (or learn the implicit lessons).

Love the GDT. Won't be watching tonight. Just too frustrating to watch. This team is like a dog that eats its own poop til it gets sick and then just starts eating it again. You'd think the coaches and even the players would figure out what they're doing isn't working.

Time for a little vacay from this team. I have two young kids at home and other things on the go, just makes me too mad watching these games and I'm tired of being mad at something I have no control over anyway. It would be nice to be pleasantly surprised watching sportscentre later tonight but just can't stand watching whole games right now.

What to do HFOil? I can go out and watch this with some friends OR I can simply go home where I have Centre Ice and not watch another atrocity. I'm actually leaning towards being a hermit

I agree 100%, it is completely disrespectful to the veteran fan. But it works on enough people, obviously. This is show biz now, where the star power of a few Justin Bieber first overalls trumps putting a quality squad together and competing honestly. Katz should be massively ashamed of what this once flagship franchise has rotted into.

I haven't seen a starting lineup yet but my guesses:

Hall-Gagner-Eberle
MPS-RNH-Yak
Eager-Belanger-Jones
Petrell-Smyth-Brown

Schultz-Schultz
Smid-Petry
Whitney-Peckham

Dubnyk
Danis

I expect the lines to get chopped and changed all game. If it's true (what else would he say) that Krueger is looking for more intensity and a "response" after that Detroit "non-effort"... we'll probably see a steady parade to the penalty box.

Expect Eager/Brown/Smyth/Peckham to take numerous untimely penalties.

Is that the youngest top 6 ever iced in the NHL? LOL

It's easy enough for a blind man to see they are outshot, outhit and generally outplayed in every area on most nights. I'm sure Krueger and management are very well aware of that as well.

They don't come out and say we suck and are useless because the facts are that the team is young and is in a rebuild and that's a strong crutch not to do anything drastic about it. They are being patient... to a fault in most people's eyes at this point.

Time and patience is what they are expecting to fix this team... it may take years as the team grows and continues to develop... and management (and Katz) are clearly ok with that at this point. The 4-6 year time window for them to develop into a contender is "on pace".

They are either in year 3/4 whichever way you want to look at it. I would say year 3 as the blow up year when they drafted Hall was the 1st and this is the 3rd season following that. I think management is fully prepared and happy to patiently wait for this team to develop into a contender... could take another 2-3 years according to their timeline.

They may be deluded but I don't question the resilience of Katz and management to hold steady and do very little to accelerate this rebuild by acquiring major pieces. I think we'll continue to see lip service paid to improving the team and only minor/peripheral pieces added.
I don't know how those morons could say the rebuild started EXACTLY three years ago when the best player (currently) on our team was drafted 6 years ago. It doesn't really matter at the end of the day but we drafted a few key pieces before Hall. You can't be so ignorant to preach this is only year 3 solely to appease the masses. I know it is no big deal but it kind of pisses me off a little bit when these goofs (management) try to insult our intelligence with their fabricated timelines.

First game in a LONG time that I don't plan to be around to watch. That's saying something, and I bet I'm not alone.

Anybody else a bit curious about why the team got a day off/optional skate today after last night's pathetic effort? I know they have a game today, but christ...seems like a cute little reward for one of the most pathetic hockey games I've ever seen this franchise play.
