Let's do this by winning percentage. It makes us look a bit better.

I'm sticking to Fenwick until the last 10 or so games.

Without including the Isles game which should propel them even higher, the Rangers are 6th in the league and 2nd in the East.

It's really a tight race. As long as we finish the season top 4 in the east, i'll be happy.

This is the first time in a long time that we are legitimately in the playoffs: we have more points in fewer games than the #9 seed.

We are now ahead of both the Debs and the Sens in points per game, so we are #6 in points per game, and within striking distance (0.02 difference) of the Leafs.

No reason not to be in 5th place sometime soon.

Then who do you want to play Carolina, Montreal, or Boston in round one ? Yikes...

Toronto and Ottawa will not last. Kadri won't keep it going. Injuries will catch up with the Sens. I can see Washington and Winnipeg being replacement teams. Rangers will be either 4 or 5. Tough round one coming with Bruins/Habs loser of division.

So important to get to overtime if you are going to lose. Regulation losses are absolute killers. Think about this...in a regular 82 game season you can go 11-0-71 and make the post-season.

Toronto will make the playoffs. Ottawa might too. There's no reason to give up hope of winning the divison with 26 games left, down by 6 points with 2 games in hand. The Rangers-Pittsburgh matchup a week from Saturday might be a huge 4 point swing. We also need to establish the confidence that we can beat them if we end up facing them in the postseason.

As for teams I'd like in the first round, it's too early for that, but I'll be thrilled with Philadelphia, Toronto, Winnipeg or Tampa Bay.

That was last year around mid-season when our Fenwick was pretty misrepresentative because of our horrible first 10 games which skewed it.

Last year our Fenwick ended up in middle of the pack and we were riding Hank's awesome goaltending and our high percentage scorers (especially Gaborik). This year we are playing legitimately better hockey, but are having some bad luck.

The good news are that our shooting is very likely to regress upward, while our current level of goaltending is sustainable. If we keep our current level of play up, we'll fight Boston for the #1 seed.

Toronto will not make the playoffs, they are one of the worst 5v5 teams in the league. Their goaltending AND shooting are both at unsustainable levels at the moment.

We will be 4th seed; the best of the rest. If we were in the West we'd be lucky to make the playoffs.

Their play vs Pitted the last few years concerns me. Not a good match. Will be tough to pass them if they lose the games. Pitt is an unreal regular season team but playoffs are an issue. Fleury is a headcase. Should be interesting the rest of the way. IDK if they can be passed. Too many easy wins for them in the east.

The Rangers don't matchup well with the Pens at all. Too difficult to stop Crosby-Kunitz if you have McDonagh-Girardi against Malkin and Neal. If Staal isn't back next Saturday, forget about it.

You have to remember they aren't getting much from Kessel, and Lupul remains out so that will make up for Kadri's potential decreasing production. The conference as a whole is mediocre and the Leafs will find a way to sneak in.

Unreal reg. season team? They haven't won the division since 07-08.

Pittsburgh is an inconsistent team with bad defence that are led by the unreal star power of Crosby and Malkin.

Just because they own us, Ranger fans tend to overrate Pittsburgh. They're a good team, but I'd definitely put them below Boston, Chicago, and LA.

Guys, yeah, Nash is good for the Rangers but Prust has been excellent for Montreal. He single-handily pulled Montreal from the bottom. Before Prust, Montreal didn't know what real hockey was. With Prust, they have been enlightened.

As a matter of fact, Prust not only brought comedy into Montreal, he invented it. It's true!

The Rangers should end up with a PP.

Edit - Wrong thread. I was wondering why no one responded.

So not winning the division makes them inconsistent? Last time I checked they ended last season with over 100 points and only 2 behind us. Before that? 100 point season without Malkin and Crosby the majority of the time. They are a fantastic regular season team. First round exits the last couple times in the dance. Their defense and goalie get exposed in series. Over time you can develop a trend of stopping players, even the best if all 6 on the ice make the commitment. Much more difficult to do in the regular season. To me, that is on the coach. Bylsma has done nothing for that team IMO. Sparked them when Therrian was fired. No post season success since.
