If you just scroll down a bit there is a 3 page thread with probably the most recent information about him.

His contract expires April 30th. Would not be available to the Flames until after this date.

unless his KHL team is eliminated from the playoffs and Calgary is able to buy out the remainder of his contract.

Or the NHL returns the favor and Ramo violates his KHL contract, because apparently they don't care about ours.

Some good news and some bad news with this update,

Good news is this:

http://en.khl.ru/news/2013/3/6/25086.html

Bad news is Ramo go lite up today, falling 5-0 in the first game of the series, that being said Traktor is expected to win the East, so Ramo is going to have to play out of his mind in order for Avangard to win, as they are severely the inferior team in this series, as they pretty much were last series. In order for them to win the playoffs Ramo will have to steal every win, and that just seems unlikely. Maybe see him sooner though?

Hopefully we see him soon! I'm excited to see him in action, and what he's like in the NHL.

what's the point of bringing him over and monpolizing another contract on a goaltender?

I mean Kipper is going to play the bulk of the games, and Joey Mac has proven a good back-up

I love Ramo, and would want us to trade Kipper, Iginla, Gio and re-load with picks and players toward next year, but since that still appears unlikely, what's the point of Ramo now?

why not bring him over for next fall?

Flames can't trade kipper and by all accounts he wants to stay here, you can't trade a guy who wants to play in the city with his family if he has a NTC and doesn't want to move.

And the point of Ramo now is if Kipper gets injured or by some miracle we make the playoffs we have two goaltenders with playoff experience and know how to be the starting goalie of a team. In no way are the Flames capable of consistently winning with MacD in net, but with Ramo the team can play with confidence in front of him. Playing with two real goalies instead of 1.25 NHL goalies give this team a significant advantage.

I'm very hopeful of Ramo and have owned him in a keeper league, burying him in my minors for years waiting for him to come back over, BUT, he still has a lot to prove at the NHL level.

There is no certainty he will come over and be Fasth.

With a rested Kipper playing the bulk of the games I'm just not sure having Ramo come over now makes sense.

That said if we could move Irving or Taylor and open up a spot on the 50 man then i'd be open to it.

I guess I also just believe that the likelyhood of Kipper getting injured again this year is very low. He's been so durable before now, and was injured like many other players and goalies as a product of a short training camp...

Kipper is a pro's pro, and I would imagine now that he is up and running that he'll be healthy for the forseeable future.

At any rate, having Ramo come over is still a good problem to have.

Our organizational depth at Goalie looks very solid moving forward.

His NMC expired on July 1st, the Flames can trade him anytime they want.

But, the market for goaltenders is just not there so trading him would do very little for the franchise going forward.

I actually think a team like Phoenix could be very interested in Kipper. His actual salary isn't very high for next season and Smith is playing brutally right now. I'm sure Rundblad would be a nice for the Flames and one the Coyotes are probably willing to give up.

Well if Feaster could swing something with Avangard or the KHL we could see Ramo as early as this weekend as Avangard has yet to score a goal in this series, it would seem unlikely they will win. Ramo has not been bad by any stretch, but its impossible to win when your team scores zero goals.

Series - 3 - 0 Traktor

Traktor 5 - Avangard 0
Traktor 3 - Avangard 0
Avangard 0 - Traktor 3
(Probable) Final is on Wednesday Can be seen at 6am our time. 5pm their time.

Question is... do the Flames use contract #50/50 on Ramo?

Why not? If we are bringing in Ramo we are most likely testing him out for next year and giving up on this year, which means we will be moving people out.

I would love for them to do what ever possible to get Perry, so much skill, and grit, everything this team lacks Perry embodies.

Seems silly to have what, five goalies under contract? In addition to needing to grease the palms of his KHL team to release him early.

If certain trades happen, then it makes sense I suppose.

PS: Nice avatar.

No thanks, 9+ million for 7 years is just what this team needs to avoid a proper rebuild, just spend the next 2 years acquiring young talent while keeping part of the older players to help them (GlenX,Cammy/Tangs,Hudler,Jbo,Wideman) then start looking to UFA's.

We would likely have to give up Bartschi unless the ducks are looking for a "playoff depth" package we could offer:

Giordano
Tanguay
(something else)

to them..

Im aware. Any team trading for him will obviously do so with the condition they can talk to Perry first, otherwise no one will give up any real assets.

Ducks are pushing for the playoffs, they will either want a blue chip prospect or a group of players to make them a contender.
