Can't link it because I'm at work but Dustin leed tweeted he heard from a source that perry wants to come east and the flyers will be all over him. If someone could link the tweet it would be appreciated

If you missed it earlier: expect Philly to be hot on the trail of Corey Perry. According to source, Perry wants to come East.

No problem. I would have to imagine Toronto might be players for Perry this summer. I wonder who else could potentially land him?

Pittsburgh(although I don't think it makes sense dollar wise) and the rangers if they buy out gaboriks last year on his deal. Boston maybe but I doubt it. Possibly Montreal?

It will be between us and Toronto. I can't see Pittsburgh opening up enough room, and I don't think the Rangers are looking to add to their core of forwards. Maybe Boston will make a play for him if they are disappointed this spring.

Not sure how much I'd like a 7.5+ cap hit on Perry, but I definitely think he'd be a good fit here.

I just saw on twitter that he has no interest playing for Carlyle again. If true that probably takes Toronto out of the picture.

I would imagine Boston would take run at him also.

I could see him fitting into Boston but they'd have to move someone because they already are going to be really close to the cap.

Yeah I'm not familar with other teams cap situations. I just figured they were similar to us in that they would make space if needed.

I know from a pretty good source (as good a source as a guy on a message board can have) Homer has serious interest in getting Perry in orange and black.

Would Ottawa be interested in Briere? Specifically if Alfredsson retires, you'd think they could use a top-6 skilled veteran presence who can finish. Maybe we can snag Ben Bishop and a solid defensemen...

(also I could easily see Briere waiving to Ottawa, considering he is from Gatineau, played for Drummondville, etc.)

Odds are Ottawa's going to be sellers at the deadline rather than buyers. They might be trying to ship out Bishop because of their log jam in net but I don't think they would want Briere.

Since there are none...and saving money doesn't help the hockey club, why not target a top forward.
saving money will help, because we will be ready to make a run for that defense when one comes available. this is why we are in such a terrible position to begin with. spend every cent, overload in one area because we can, struggle elsewhere. and when one end breaks we have to blow **** up to fix it. Signing Perry or Semin to outrageous deals hurts us even more in the long run

Not necessarily a deadline deal. Offseason would work too. Ottawa looks like they could easily be a playoff team even without Spezza and Karlsson, so I doubt they'd be selling when they're already so young.

Perry - Giroux - Voracek
Hartnell - Schenn - Read
Simmonds - Couturier - Laughton
Zolnierczyk - Talbot - Rinaldo

Timonen-Schenn
Coburn-Grossman
Gus-Bourdon/Geravis

Backstrom/someone
Bernier (trade)

Buyout Briere and Bryz

Defense is still the same....

Just thinking.

If you're trading for Bernier he's going to be your starter.

Laughton on the wing isn't a good idea.

Same D? Yuck.

I'm all about getting Perry, but I am concerned with what they would have to give up to get him.

Any truth behind this Dany Heatley availability crap that's going on in the main boards (Heatley to NJ)? I wouldn't mind Homer going after him at the right price. Something like Briere+Mez for Heatley+Gilbert. Heatley with Giroux would be lethal and we get rid of the enigma, Briere (he's scoring but other than that he's playing like crap this year). Swapping Mez for Gilbert probably won't win me a popularity contest. But we would be getting another defenseman on an identical contract, who can move the puck and has right-hand shot. A win in my book. We add $1 million to our cap as a result of this deal, but Heatley would tear it up with Giroux feeding him the puck.

I don't want him until he hits FA for this very reason. If we pay the price and he decides to walk we just set the franchise back bigtime.
If we can get his rights after the season like we did with Hamuis and he walks, oh well, it was worth a shot.

Lol clearly not he was always going back and forth with him on twitter. He just seems like such a nice guy he said everything he could to not seem like a dick to hockey insider.

Its clear he has some kind of link to the organization and i take what he says pretty serious.

Yea he most likely would be. Had it as a vet backup behind him at first.

I only want him in offseason, not deadline.

Was thinking the same thing. D Leed likely doesn't have many great sources, but he never cared much for hockeyyins...

I think you are thinking of ManayunkM... same kind of bought twitter followers as HI

I honestly don't see teams willing to give up a lot for him knowing that he wants to test free agency. Anaheim might just hold onto him for cup run and hope he resigns in the offseason.
