The only possible sane reason for scratching Barrie tonight would be if he is actually hurt a bit. I'd like to think Sacco is a bit of an old time hockey kinda guy and might subscribe to the same line of thought as Torts when it comes to disclosing a player's injury: It's none of the media or fans damn business. Torts believe the coach should protect the player by not letting on if he's hurt or once that ship has sailed where or how badly the player is hurt.

Don't really think I should give Sacco that amount of credit though.

Tyson Barrie has played extremely well at times and has been just 'ok' at times but he's been NO WORSE that our 3rd or 4th best d-man out there on a nightly basis and in NO WAY deserves to be taken out of he lineup.
5 goals scored and a great defensive effort. Just sayin

Well, good news is we beat the NHL's best team and ended their streak.

Bad news is Sacco's not going anywhere this season now.

Did any of you see Sacco handshake that fan at the end of the game?! Probably telling him your job is safe.

Tom Nalen posted on Twitter that Sacco may have perpetuated his own downfall by raising expectations. Well...that's one way to slay the beast.

Sacco beat The best team in NHL. Now he can't be fired for another season. Nice.

Ok it's not even funny anymore Sacco put O'Reilly and Landeskog together again. O'Reilly is finding his feet and he might help Landeskog do the same. Keeping those two apart is like having the Sedins on different lines it's just idiocy.

While I agree that Landy and ROR would be productive, I really think keeping Staz productive is more important if this team runs the 3Cs on separate lines. I think ROR can be productive with a wider variety of players. Stastny needs a skilled guy who can control the edges, muck up the corners, and pull some Dmen away from the net allowing Staz to get time and space to make the play. Landy is an excellent complement to him, similar to the impact McGinn had on Staz last year.
Not sure who else Staz could play with that would not cause his production to drop.

So clearly Barrie was holding the Avs down with his superior play now the 5 forwards on the PP has shown us that Sacco is smarter than all of us!

Joe "Wile E." Sacco SUPER Genius!

Apart from the "I don't give a ****" anti establishment kind of mentality Laviolette seems to have, his offensive forecheck system seems to be right up PL's alley. I always thought he would be one of the guys PL might go outside the organization for, but who knows.

Here's an idea that just came to me. I want to like Quinn. I don't really want him as the next HC, but for some reason I feel like he has more hockey smarts, and creativity than Sacco.

That said, the last couple games aside, how much of the fact the D has sucked most of the year is attributable to the players being worse than last year, and how much is attributable to Quinn running the D?

Well Quinn has a reasonable resume as a defensive coach at BU and actually was a big part of Shattenkirk's development. I suspect its possible that he could become a good coach with time. However, he is still highly inexperienced at the pro level and that's why it would be a mistake for him to.

I can almost understand the Avs philosophy - hire guys outside the system to coach your AHL affiliate, develop them as a coach, and then move them up to the big club. Unfortunately we don't seem to have any required standard of results at the AHL level in order to earn a promotion and that's why the whole strategy is rendered useless.

Boston University's Jack Parker is retiring. Come on Sacco, you know you want to coach your alum mater!

I think they'll hire Quinn though.

I used to be a big Laviolette fan. And I think his is a good motivator, but man that team sucks defensively. And he has worse defenders here than in Philly. I'm not sure how good that would be for us.

Sacco looks so self satisfied after beating the Hawks in that pre game presser on the Avs site.

I'm sure open BU job might look very tempting to Joe Sacco. But I also know he wants to make Avs a winner and not leave
Sacco makes the team more of a winner by leaving.

Gotta think David Quinn would be interested in interviewing for job. Will ask later #Avs

Quinn taking the BU job would be great. Avs won't have anyone to promote if/when Sacco gets fired and might have to look outside the organization.

Woah, don't get too happy as we all know that they'll just get Dean Chynoweth to be the new assistant coach.

I doubt they would promote him to head coach though.
