Telfair should never play behind the Turd again. Glad Ross played well and got some decent minutes. Would be nice if he got some more touches so he could develop more of his game other than being mostly relied on as a spot up shooter.

Oh and I saw this on realGM and I thought this was funny. Read my mind completely.

I don't expect that sort of output/performance out of Telfair on a regular basis, but if he can come anywhere close to approaching this kind of effort/play level on a regular basis, he wouldn't be a half-bad backup PG for Lowry. Even if he is a bust from his draft expectations, he's still got some pretty solid burst for attacking the basket.

That was a quiet win. Didn't even realize they played yesterday until I saw the highlights.

Also this would be a perfect place to end the season imo. 11th place (9th in east), giving OKC an okay position in a mediocre draft class, and having the players in that mindset that they could surpass one of those playoff fodders (Milwaukee, Boston, et al) next season.

Also this would be a perfect place to end the season imo. 11th place (9th in east), practically no chance of OKC winning the lotto (unless some CHI-esque bias chimes in and they fix the lotto), and having the players in that mindset that they could surpass one of those playoff fodders (Milwaukee, Boston, et al) next season.
It would be great if that pick did win the lottery because we would get it then since its top 3 protected.

Forgot that we'd still end up receiving it if they won the lotto, but I still think we're in a good position to just give up the 11th pick in the draft.

Also picking up Shabazz, I'm not sure if we'd get rid of DeRozan or Ross. I don't think management would keep all of them, especially with their infatuation towards Chuckerson.

We wouldn't pick him up if Raps did get a top 3 pick. He is falling and seems to have fallen out of the top 5 range. Marcus Smart would be a superb pick... though at this point, talking up drafting someone in the top 3 is ridiculous.

What is the top 5 now? I thought Shabazz, Noel and Zeller were shoe-ins considering the talent pool in this draft.

Shabazz might fall out of the top 5. He hasn't lived up to his high school hype at all. Noel will still be picked high despite his injury, might who knows if he commits.

All I know is, this draft is a terrible draft to tank for. Picking 7-10 isn't much worse than picking 1-3 this year.

Chad Ford's latest draft board ranks the players like this:

1) Ben McLemore (SG - Kansas)
2) Nerlens Noel (C - Kentucky)
3) Marcus Smart (PG - Oklahoma State)
4) Anthony Bennett (PF - UNLV)
5) Victor Oladipo (SG - Indiana)
6) Otto Porter (SF -Georgetown)
7) Alex Len (C - Maryland)
8) Shabazz Muhammad (SG/SF - UCLA)
9) Cody Zeller (C - Indiana)
10) Gary Harris (SG - Michigan State)
11) Michael Carter-Williams (PG - Syracuse)
12) Alex Polythress (SF - Kentucky)
13) Willie Cauley-Stein (C - Kentucky)
14) Mason Plumlee (PF - Duke)
15) CJ McCollum (SG - Lehigh)

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft...prospects-2013

He acknowledges at the start of the article that the draft is pretty wide open at this point, that there's any number of guys that could move up or down before the off-season, and that at any given moment there's usually at least 3-5 guys who could have a legitimate claim to the top spot, with who would be picked depending on what team is picking. In the Ben McLemore write-up he basically admits that McLemore got that ranking almost by default.

Honestly, if we're going to forfeit a 1st to OKC because of the Lowry trade, this seems as good a draft as any to do it. The way the depth (without the high-end talent) shakes down, the guy they would lose by giving up a pick in the 11-14 range would be much the same talent-wise as a guy picked near the top, but not in a good way.

I'm trying to say that this draft feels like 2000 or 2005 all over again based on talent. Where even the top picks could have their futures max out as reasonable bench players or middling starters, not cornerstones or elite pieces.

They also have the mock draft machine up. If the Raptors win the lottery, Ford figures they'd take Smart to be Lowry's understudy.

Yea, I agree Nemesis. A lot of the 1st rounders sound like valuable bench players, sixth men, and role players. There's always going to be a few players from each draft year that become stars, but I think it's going to be completely random where those "eventual" stars will be picked.

The fact that it's wide open really lowers the value of everybody's 1st rounder a bit, but especially in the top-15 picks. Top-15 picks might have the same chance of turning into a productive player as the bottom-15. It's a great year to have traded it away.

I'd rather trade down and grab Bennett and amnesty Bargs.

I hope the Raptors bring Tomislav Zubcic over next year.

Odds are certainly against him, no question about that, but he is at the very least intriguing, and I'd rather see a young talent like him on the bench than someone like Pietrus.

Amnestying Bargs makes zero sense. He's really the only piece that could/would be moved that has anything approaching real trade value.

Makes far more sense to amnesty Kleiza (whose knees are done), even if they don't end up trading Bargs.

Last I heard he's nowhere close to being anywhere near NBA ready. He was drafted on the fact that he was thought to have NBA potential a year or two before the draft in which he was selected, and had actually regressed since then. He's also a beanpole with basically zero defensive value.

So how many of you guys are staying up late to watch us play the gong-show Lakers?

they may not be as much of a gongshow lately, but it should still be a an interesting game.

I'll be watching, we can post alone in the thread.

Also, no need to worry about Kobe tonight, we have Jordan... I mean Kleiza back tonight.

RaptorsMR ‏@RaptorsMR
Same starters tonight in LA. Lowry, DeRozan, Gay, Bargnani and Valanciunas. Kleiza back active. #Raptors

Telfair has a solid game vs the Suns, and gets rewarded by having Lucas still be the primary backup PG tonight.

WTF Casey?

Andrea Bargnani has reinjured his elbow.

EDIT - The man just does not want to leave Toronto, just destroy his trade value so they can't deal him.
