Imagine that top 6!!!!!

Bouwmeester-Subban

The Ducks extended Getzlaf for 8 more years? That's insane! Besides the downside of having his contract run until he's 36 they'll be obliged to trade Perry before the deadline or lose him to free agency. If they also re-sign Perry they'll have to trade him as soon as possible to escape severe cap woes for years to come. A lot of other teams would be circling like sharks.

They could keep Perry technically but chances are he'll test free agency. If they do sign him, they'll have to deal Ryan because there's no way they can lock up money in all three of them, with replacements needed for Koivu and Selanne.

Last thing the Ducks are going to have is 'severe cap woes'. The actual salary might be a problem for them, the cap hit is pretty much a non-issue. Getzlaf is getting a 3 million raise, if Perry got the same that would be six million extra on the cap. This season they are 15 million under the cap or 9 million under what next seasons cap will be.

The Ducks are not a team that spends to the cap. They can't afford to. They were one of the main players behind the lockout to restrict contract length.

While I have always liked J-Bo, I wouldn't touch him with that contract especially with PK getting a big pay increase after next season.
can't see that happen... JBo would likely be a disaster under the montreal media/fan scrutiny.

Calgary may be a canadian city, but the media/fan frenzy isn't nearly as intense in following (and criticizing) the team.

not too mention the flames would likely be wanting quite a hefty return for him, and while he might be a great fit next to Subban, he doesn't bring the physical element that we need back there at all.

they got about 19 millions to sign 8 players...including Perry, Selanne, Koivu and replacement!

This years they spend about 55 millions in cap hit....don't see them going not any higher than 60 millions next year max....so it's more a 15 millions for 8 players.

I think Perry will be in play this summer.....unless they want to let go Bobby Ryan

Was wondering if ROR could be traded this summer? Usualy you can only trade guys you just signed a year later but this year would be far shorter than a full year. Wonder if they could trade him.

J-Bo, exactly the type of dman we do not need. We need a Souray type.

That is all.

Part of the reasoning behind why colorado matched so quickly is because one year to that day would have put them in pretty close to next year's trade deadline, so yeah, I'm pretty sure the 1 calendar year rule is still in place.

Alright thanks. Interesting that they may end up trading him at next year's trade deadline.

Yeah, if you go by what a lot of the pundits are saying, it's a foregone conclusion that he's gone.

Would love Clarkson and maybe Patryn or Tinordi could fill the bigger Dman role.
Even if we do nothing, the worst case is we keep our picks at this years draft and firm up our prospect pool with 5 or 6 good prospects (goalie and a few big bodies)

Yeah, Perry is exactly the kind of player we need but 8 million bucks for 7 years? That's what it would take... plus we'd probably have to trade for him and sign him so we'd be giving up assets as well.

As much as I think he'd be great, I think he's too expensive.

Signing perry would also implicate Gallagher and Galchenyuk's next contracts.

By then Gionta, Kaberle, and probably Ryder's cap hit would be gone.
If Bergevin makes them take bridge contract like he did to Subban, it should be alright

Looking at Winnipeg's board, they seem to think Chris Thorburn and Mark Stuart would be available.

I would want both on the Canadiens.

Unless Perry absolutely wants to come to Montreal, we aren't going to sign him. He'll go for the highest bidder. With what Getzlaf got, he's probably thinking he can get as much, or more seeing as teams will fight each other in order to sign him. If he comes here, he'll have to take quite a discount (which I don't think he would). Otherwise Bergevin will probably lose some important key players we currently have right now once their contracts come up and we have to re-sign them for a bigger value. It might somehow work... I would definitely love to see Perry here. But I don't think it'll happen or work.

For the last time, Clowe is nothing but a pure liability now. We need a Clarkson but he's like Lou's son so...

You're still weak defensively. Also lol at the amount you're paying you're bottom 6.
