What? Did you not watch a Leafs game between 2009 and 2011?

Its a little more specific than just a defensive D man. This team needs a right handed, semi mobile (not Komi/schenn slow) D man that can play well defensively and make a solid first pass. Doesn't need to be an all star or a guy that puts up points. I would say the best example I can think of is Zbynek Michalek, though he is unavailable, I would assume.

In an ideal world, I would love to get a right handed version of Dan Hamhuis, whoever that is but I doubt we could get anything of the sort, ATM. Our D core would look decent as well:

Phaneuf - RH version of Dan Hamhuis
Gardiner/Gunnar - Holzer
Fraser - Franson
Kostka

Beauchemin got way too much flak when he was in Toronto. He actually played great while logging huge minutes. And by great I mean as good as he could with Wilson behind the bench

To be fair...Ron Wilson was coach and our entire defense was downright pathetic while Beauchemin was just a bit better than Komisarek.

Honestly, Beauchemin had little to no trade value if Anaheim didn't want him thanks to Ron Wilson and his amazing system that left goalies out to dry everyday.

He would be great under Carlyle but I'd much rather have Lupul/Gardiner.

When Wilson is your coach
When your goaltenders are guys like Toskala, Gustavsson, etc/
When your forwards can't support the D to save their lives

It adds up to ________________!

Polak is the ideal perfect candidate...Perfect were looking for defensive D here people not white or another O d...

You cannot have to Offensive D on at the same time at all...not sure what people here are thinking..

White is better then any of our right handed D so he'd still be an upgrade.

He can play defensively (although not as well as Polak) but can contribute offensively.

I don't want to trade for White but would gladly accept him as a UFA signing.
