Don't give a ****. I can see how them winning the actual lottery and getting the actual 1st OA is getting a bit old for other continually bad teams, but I don't mind them getting a top pick for as long as they suck.

Every team that misses the playoffs will be in the lottery.

it gets annoying when you see a GM do absolutely nothing to try and improve a team and then get a first round pick when a team like the bluejackets deserved it more

Most Edmonton fans weren't jumping for joy either. We truly didn't want to match the league record. As nice as it is to have Yakupov; when you're drafting 1st you HAVE to take BPA and can't focus as much on team needs.

That's part of the reason Edmonton was rumored to have tried to trade down in the draft but with so much high end talent available also no team was really putting forth any significant offers. Why give up a talented piece to take a high end scorer when your team also needs Centers or Defence...both of which had very high end players available until the 8th pick? Why would Edmonton trade out of the top7-8 when the piece they'd be getting back wouldn't equal the quality of the 1st overall?

Just makes me sick seeing the Oilers GM smile everytime he finishes last.

Seems risky.

I sure wouldn't want the Blues to bomb out for 4 straight years so no it doesn't bother me. The fan base can get pretty irritating, but I imagine a lot of fan bases would be irritating in the same spot.

Yes, the NHL should put a rule limiting the number of consecutive first overalls a team can have. This is getting ridiculous.

I feel bad for Oilers fans because they just want a competitive team, but their management is an absolute gong show. Kevin Lowe and Tambellini are absolute jokes. It boggles my mind how a team can keep these clowns around for so long, but then again I'm a Leafs fan so I can't say much Though at least for our sake some things have changed recently.

There teams that are just as bad as the oilers, they also deserve to get the top pick. I am getting tire of the oil getting it every year and still sucking.

You know what's funny, everybody craps on Feaster for NOT tanking. At the same time, everybody craps on Tambellini FOR tanking.

Maybe people just have issues with the province of Alberta.

I'd be really annoyed as a Sabres fan. We're on our way to our first top 3 pick since 1987, and I wouldn't be happy to see the Oil push us out of that position. Oilers need to let somebody else have a turn. There are other teams that suck too, and ones that have significantly less "talent" on their rosters at that.
Their team should be competitive by now. It's an embarrassment that they're not.

Don't really care but I don't understand why Tambellini still has his job. How the hell are you not fired after 2 last place finishes and one second last, in the past three years?

This.

How can someone respect an organization that rewards failure? He got an extension this summer didn't he? Who in their right mind does that?

I do find it strange how the city of Edmonton celebrates failure, though. To them, finishing last place is like winning the Cup. They hold draft lottery parties and celebrate like they just scored a Game 7 Cup winning GWG when they win it.

Again, to each their own, I just find it strange.
I agree

The Oilers should have taken Landeskog. That team seriously lacks spark and leadership.

Good thing people cried so much about the lottery that it makes it harder for teams like CBJ to retain the 1st overall!

No they should not have. RNH was the BPA

If they had taken Landeskog, Belanger would be the #2C right now.
