Watching him play has been an absolute treat this year, it looks like he has an extra gear that he just never found in years before. His breakaway speed is absolutely amazing, he is such a dynamic and powerful player. When he is confident, there aren't many players that can match his talent level.

Duchene out for Sharks game

Matt Duchene is out for tonight's San Jose Sharks game with a groin injury. Duchene, the teams' leading scorer has been dealing with a nagging hip and groin injury for a couple of weeks.

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Aaron...8#.US0d4WfLrqs
This explains a bit of that lack of jump hes had the last 2 or 3 games, I think everyone was aware of the 'sore hip' thing, but the groin injury is new info.

I don't know but it would seem like playing through a hip injury could have contributed to groin issues IMO.

Did he skate? Or was it off-ice treatment again?

Yup just read that myself.

Hopefully they are not rushing him. A healthy Duchene was much more effective than the version we have had for the past few game.

According to Roger Millions, Duchene is out tonight. I trust Moser more, but I'm sure we will hear one way or another soon.

Edit: He quickly reverses course

"Duchene just said he will try it" doesn't sound promising...

Try it? Just sit out, who cares. Don't risk tearing something, or leading to a hernia of some sort like Forsberg and other players have done trying to fight through groin pulls.

I'm going to reserve my judgement on whether he should or shouldn't play until I see him skating. He shouldn't play if he is like he was for the last couple of games that he played, but if it has improved with the time off I am okay with it. Only the people that were at the morning skate really know which is the case.

Would rather he rested another game than potentially make it worse.

I hope he sits out a couple more days.

We aren't in any position to be battling for a playoff spot this season, no point on him repeating his mistake last season of rushing back before healing up.

It would be best for him to rest until our next game on Sunday, but that's not the Duchene way. He played injured last year and will do whatever it takes for his boyhood team. Have to respect that.

When under contract, Ryan O'Reilly has done everything possible to help the Colorado Avalanche win hockey games. I would hope you, nor anybody else, would ever question that. My post had nothing to do with O'Reilly, though. You can leave the ill will in the relevant thread(s).

I'm not sure about fastest but he is the best overall skater IMO. Defenders just can't handle him when he's running at them full flight.

He's also playing great with Mcginn, abolishing another ridiculous myth about his game.

When he's already gliding, his first two steps pretty much bring him up to full speed and then he just keeps motoring past guys. On that pass to McGinn for the goal last night, he beat Keith through the neutral zone after just a couple steps, and then just glided in from the faceoff dots to the end boards. Keith was skating the whole way and still couldn't get to the puck first.
