Exactly.

Further, Bryz has played well for periods here. See last March and the start to this year. The new excuse is he is tired. BS. He is at times a great goalie, but on balance plays like a goalie with a 1mm cap hit.

Bishop, Lehrer , Bernier, Tim Thomas , Nabakov,

All cheaper and can give you sub 900 svptg and a GAA around 3.00.

A quality defender at 2M (Rozsival for instance as UFA) would have been major improvement for Flyers bottom pairing defense

Guarantee me they can do better than Bryz with the team we have.

Team can't improve when he guy you are paying top money too can't play well unless team in front of him is perfect. You are arguing that Bryz has to go, you understand that right ??

Need cap space for that

Tim Thomas? The conspiracy theorist who hasn't played in HOW LONG would be better than Bryz? Sure... I want no part of him. Nabokov is definitely past his prime and is just as widely inconsistent as Bryz, if not more so. Bishop hasn't proven that much yet, it's just that the Sens have played very, very well as a team in front of him while Anderson is out. I can't see Allen going away from the Blues and Bernier would probably be more needed in NJ than here.

Flyers have 10.5M in cap space with Pronger on LTIR and some people staying down/not being re-signed. With Briere still here as well, we have 10 forwards signed, and at least 6 d-men, and of course Bryz. Now, since we have 10.5 to get at least 2 or 3 more regular forwards signed and at least one other d-man signed and back up goalie, what would you suggest we use the 10.5M on? Realistically.

Or a guy who can win faceoffs.

Boyd Gordon would be awesome to have as our 4th line center.

We would only need excessive cap space if we were going for someone like Perry, who I don't think we should go for, especially at his supposed price. The only person I could see from the UFA pool to sign as a D-man would be Streit, but even he's getting a bit old and that would be ANOTHER 35+ contract on our books.

Well, the cap is dropping by 6 million this offseason, so we're gonna need cap space no matter what.

If we amnesty Bryz, we'll likely be damned for at least next year. That's better than definitely being damned for 7 more years.

If Briere stayed here, and put Pronger on LTIR and still had Bourdon down in the AHL (according to CapGeek), we have just over 10.5M to sign 2 or 3 forwards, a d-man and a back up goalie. What I would love is to send Briere somewhere to get a good d-man prospect that could fill that hole, give us some cap space, and go for some real good 2nd/3rd liner.

You do realize we have an amnesty for each of the next two off seasons right (one for each off season)?

If anything, that would give Stolarz this year to grow, and then next year, and if we amnesty Bryz, we could try to rush Stolarz in a way.

Pronger's cap hit still counts during the offseason. He eats up the overage automatically. We basically have 5 million to sign those guys.

I'm perfectly aware we have amnesties for 2 years. One for Bryz, one for Briere if he doesn't want a trade.

If we can't trade Briere, Briere goes first. End of story.

You really can't rush a goalie prospect. Just have to go year by year and see when they're ready.

Exactly why we would probably be really ****ing lost without Bryz this year or next year. We have no one in the system to take his place and some of the young guys that could be had (probably Bishop more than anyone), needs more play time.

Yeah Stolarz needs at least 1 more year in juniors and another in the AHL. If you rush him he'll just end up like the other young goalies we've had the last 20 years.

The problem is, I really, REALLY don't want to give a 2nd rounder from this draft for Bishop. I'd give a 2014 3rd and Akeson for Bishop.

And Ottawa wouldn't do that. They traded a 2nd for him a year ago, they're going to sell high on him.

I'd throw in Gus and Akeson for Bishop then? Maybe McGinn for Bishop?

Neither Gus nor Akeson are worth a 2nd round pick themselves. We're not getting Bishop for our scraps.
