People crap on Feaster for not rebuilding. Rebuilding and understanding the state of your franchise is different from just intentionally doing nothing to improve your team in favour of getting draft picks. How many moves has Tambellini even made in the past 3-4 years that have actually improved the franchise?

Even if they only get the 2nd or 3rd overall pick it will annoy me. They'll get a competent GM some day and probably dominate the league. Even if they have to trade some of their top talents the return will be huge. It's annoying because the draft should create parity and not reward a long streak of stupidity.
Also, I just know that some Oilers fans will create thousands of threads about how great their team will be in the off-season again. I feel for the other fans they have, though. As an Avs fan I know how painful it is to watch the fav team disappoint night in and night out.

that's the catch 22 for the oilers. They had a bunch of crappy veterans, a few decent younger guys and a pile of crap in the NHL and farm system. They really had nothing of value to move and they went in initially with the intention of stocking up on picks and prospects to rebuild organizational depth from the bottom up. They're largely done that, there's lots of prospects in the system now, but they're still quite young given they only started this whole process a couple years ago. It's a little bit unfair to just say they should be better by now, that doesn't take into account the state the organization was left in in a desperate and futile attempt to make the playoffs and recapture that 2006 magic. A series of trades that didn't work out, a lot of poor draft choices, free agent signings that didn't work, the system was in horrible shape the year they drafted Hall.

The problem now is that people were willing to show some patience at first, but the refusal to even try and make changes to something that isn't currently working has put people over the edge this year, as it should. The system is restocked, it's time to start focussing on the NHL team, and Tambellini is still sitting on his hands, that's a problem.

The league's star talent comes from somewhere. Personally i'd like to see it spread around. Not monopolized.

You know what's not fair? Having to cheer for this sad sack **** team. Do people think it is some sort of blessing being a fan of this team? It's the worst run organization in the history of the NHL. No one else has the right to complain about the Oilers other than Oiler fans who have had to sit through this for the past 1/2 decade.

Exactly. This is a Steve Tambellini issue. Period.

Doesn't matter to me. Oilers draft like crap so it doesn't really matter. Hall and RNH are busts.

Blue Jackets fans have been suffering just as much for longer. The pinnacle of their team's success is a defeat is a four game playoff sweep in their only postseason appearance. They lost their franchise player as well as the All-Star game. Had the first overall pick sweeped away from them. Had to suffer through poor management and poor amateur scouting. Enough with the pity party. It hasn't been 10 years since Edmonton was playing for a Stanley Cup. Other fanbases have put up with worse. Yes it sucks, but enough with the "no one knows what it's like to be us!"

Look at how Chicago and Pittsburgh's Championship teams were built.

Draft enough top end talent and you will succeed.

Seth Jones would give them the #1 defenceman they solely need.

However I hate to see teams being rewarded for losing, they have enough talent in their lineup already, they shouldn't be the worst team in the NHL anymore.
If the only way the Hawks tried building a Cup winning team was through top 5 picks...they'd have a longer playoff drought than the Leafs right now.

As long as the Oilers end up picking Seth Jones.
You've been wanting the oilers to have the first pick for four years in a row now.

It's that mentality that is sick. No wonder people harp on the oilers.

I think what pisses off people about Oilers is that all those high draft picks aren't showing up on the on-ice product. It's not the team per se, but the management, I would think. That's how I personally feel.

Yep. It comes from somewhere. Its made by coaches and GM's work. Not through the draft.
Bad team may draft 100 consecutive 1st overalls and still be bottom feeder.
Good team will find Datsyuk at #171

I'm more sick of a system that rewards teams for being terrible. It's a perverse incentive.

Pretty much.

The team is poor from the President level to the assistant coaches.

You keep expecting them to take the next step but, year after year, they're almost as bad as the season before. Unfortunately, RNH, Hall, and Yakupov are nowhere near the level of Pittsburgh's top level picks, Crosby and Malkin. They're going to need the time to develop. Chicago, on the other hand, had major talent on their team in Keith, Seabrook, Hossa, Sharp, Bolland, Versteeg, Campbell, Byfuglien, etc. that helped lead them to a cup.

Sorry but a lottery pick does NOT flip a switch and turn you team into a contender, unless that lottery pick is Sidney Crosby (who still had immense talent surrounding him). This falls on management, who can't make a decent trade or signing to save their life.

Don't care should be winning. Honestly, who cares? I understand if people are jealous the Oilers are accumulating this talent through sucking but really the only people who should and are sick of it are Oilers fans and that's it. We're not getting better because we have a joke of a GM and Coach. You guys shouldn't be worried until it's dealt with.

Who is jealous? I'm not saying I want these first overall talents on MY team. I just want to see them spread throughout the league. It's not a good thing to look at guys like Mackinnon and Jones and think, there's a future Oiler in the making.

Like do you not see how ridiculous it is that other bottom feeders run by management that actually tries to improve the team don't have access to the top talent in the draft every year because everyone is forced to wait until the Oilers find someone that sticks? How many more first overall picks is it gonna take. No body is jealous. Maybe CBJ and NYI fans, but fans of contenders look at the Oilers organization for what it truly is. A poorly run (management/coaching) joke of a team.

If I was an Oiler fan I would be ashamed that my team is looking at a possible fourth straight first overall pick. Not doing what I can to justify it by calling other annoyed fans "jealous"

Rewarded for sucking? I suppose, from a fan standpoint, you are being rewarded with new young talent, but the true reward in this league is having consistent success and winning cups. The only way to get that for ****** teams like the edmonton is to hand them #1 overalls.

Id like to be a scout for the oilers. All you'd have to do is read some CBC rankings and you're all set
