What's the harm in giving him a shot? Our goaltending can't get much worse than it is right now.

His workload normalized and even got easier recently. I can buy the "tired" excuse during those road trips with back to backs, and readily offered it myself, but it's a hell of a lot less convincing right now.

Thanks to the defense clearing them.

Do you believe there is a goalie that will never give up rebounds?

No, that would be ridiculous. But there are goalies who control them better.

Cechmanek only turned into a sieve during the playoffs. Bryz turns into one during the regular and post season.

how exactly is he rested now. we're not talking about this in a vacuum. the games played on the road and the back to backs add up. it's all cumulative.

But you know what, the defense cleared the rebounds, which is also their responsibility. Every goalie will let up rebounds. I felt that Bryz held up with rebounds well enough in this game.

I agree. We should Leighton Bryzgalov's workload... permanently...

EDIT: Did I say Leighton, I meant lighten. Yeah, that's what I meant.

Well he gets tomorrow off. He didn't look tired today, he looked downright sloppy.

I highly, highly doubt fatigue is the driving factor behind his play...considering how awful he was last year when fatigue was the least of his issues.

Bryz's play begin tanking in the 11th game of the season. That's really early to hit the fatigue wall and then maintain it for a full month afterwards.

he played in the KHL and had 2 back to backs within those 11 games, in like 8 days or so? i'm not saying this absolves him of his level of suckiness recently, just that his recent play is not indicative of the real bryzgalov. i could sit here and make excuses all day about last year and this year and it wouldn't change the fact that he simply needs to be better i'm just saying that i think he deserves a full normal season to prove himself in light of the aforementioned excuses.

He also had a long break between his KHL time (which was minimal) and the start of the season.

I also think we should wait until after next season to amnesty him.

Allen has a save on a breakaway.

That must be nice.

I am now converted. I am supporting Bryz in the quest for the best draft pick possible! Start him tomorrow.

Yeah it's weird seeing a defensive breakdown not resulting in a goal.

I agree with this, but if he doesn't improve majorly I think we need to amnesty him. If there aren't any competent goalies on the market, **** it, play Leighton. His soft goals won't be any worse than Bryz's, and at least Leighton costs about a sixth as much.

Allen just made another big save on a defensive breakdown. I don't know what's going on here.

In this game he wasn't too awful. Overall? Not so much. Lots of crap is bouncing off his chest. Pucks that ought to be handled are struggled with.

It reminds me of Boosh a few years ago.

I'm pretty sure such a thing is impossible. I haven't seen that in so long I can't believe it could be done.

Yeah I turned it on at the beginning of the 2nd and he bailed out the defense 3 times where they let the guy walk in. Like you said it must be nice. I have to watch other teams to get my fix on what great goaltending looks like.

Two things I noticed people always say about Bryz is:
1. He plays better when he plays a lot.
2. He's the type of goalie who does better when he's active and facing a good amount of shots.

Now it's he's too tired and the defense needs to be better even though they give up 27 shots on average a game. So my question is what excuse is it now?
