Bad argument, those guys go after your talent not Adams and Glass. I don't expect them to win anything against heavy hitters. But if Neil or a couple of that type of player were on the fourth and third line rather than guys who are nothing but yappers. Either Shero or Bylsma just won't go to a roster that has some ability to play any style to win.

Where will the Pens be if Crosby or Malkin go down? I like the offensive elements with the exception of the fourth line and Kennedy who is garbage. Carlyle will let loose the hounds and without great performances from those two, the Pens are just an ordinary team at best. Neal disappeared without Malkin. Kunitz has been a good two way player before coming to the Pens. After that, a rookie Bennett who has a very good future makes your second line? The cap and economics are a consideration, but the Pens have some bad contracts paying players who no longer bring what they should. Orpik for one. I don't like Martin for the contract. He played in a protected system in NJ and with out a strong checking team, he is exposed down low over and over. Watch him and Orpik in penalty killing, they never get the freaken puck out. That's your number one pairing? Five on five they look competent, but in a penalty killing situation they stink.

Having a physically tough team to play against should be the goal of every team. Having a team that can win with grit and skill should be the goal of every team.
Having a team with no grit or toughness usually gets you bounced quickly from the playoffs, despite how many points you can rack up in the regular season.

take away ANY team's top two players and you'll have a mediocre team.

Pens and Leafs are the only 2 teams in the league without a loser point, which probably means this game goes to OT.

no he won't, the only thing he can do is react to an incident that has already happened. Malkin still would have gotten injured had macintyre played in that game. Crosby still would have gotten a concussion had macintyre played in that game. A guy like him just isn't necessary in today's game.
It's not like anybody wants MacIntyre taking a regular spot.

We're playing a team that has made a habit recently of playing over the line and not having anyone take them to task. Sometimes you have to let the opposition know that they can't just run around taking liberties. A behemoth like MacIntyre settles things down quickly if opposition guys want to act tough and get in your star's/goalie's kitchen, because believe it or not, the refs don't call everything they should.

I would love to have Patrick Bordeleau on the Pens. He is a solid hybrid-enforcer who has size listed at 6'6" 225 LBS. He is good at skating for a player his size, and he also plays very physical.

I want him and Jamie McGinn on the Pens.

We'd have to waive someone or send Bennett down to make room for him. No thanks

ps: some of these guys absolutely want MacIntyre taking a regular spot.

I would prefer a 4th line of Jeffrey-Vitale-Adams. Sit Glass

MacIntyre is injured anyway, so it doesn't matter.

This, this, and this, and that.

Perfect example of a team built for the playoffs. Exemplary team toughness, with guys like Lucic, Horton, McQuaid, Boychuk, Thornton, and that Chara guy, who can all play hockey. Anyone who calls Thornton strictly a goon doesn't know much of anything about hockey. There's a reason why Marchand acts the way he does, because he knows he has about 10 guys backing him up.

But alas, as long was we have Adams, Glass, and a neutered Cooke, all will be well.

The bottom six absolutely needs to be tougher to play against.

or at least more skilled. right now it doesn't really do much of anything. Using our 4th line as a defensive matchup is a disaster waiting to happen come playoffs

Pretty much, it's basically in limbo right now. It doesn't really have an identity.

Not sure how you can be upset that they can't win the cup without Crosby and Malkin. I mean... Duh.

Shhhhh. Being tough is just a myth. It means nothing. Much better to have a team of small, soft, fast guys, like Zach Boychuk and Tyler Kennedy. We need 4 lines and 6 d'men that can skate and score. There's no place in the league for things like checking, hitting, agitating, fighting, intimidating, etc.

You wouldn't want Crosby or Malkin. Our top lines do not provide enough offense to allow us to ice a goon for a few games a year. We need our 12th forward to be offensively dynamic, because we don't have enough goal scorers. Yeah, our 4th line chips in about 2 goals a year, but they're big goals.

You seriously say this EVERY TIME someone disagrees with you. It wasn't funny or clever the first time. Every person that doesn't think the same way as you is not some caricature and exaggerating everything everyone says in response to you doesn't make you right.

Play a new record for once.
