I think I would compare him to Polak

Big RH defensive defenseman

Do you agree?

When Pateryn was acquired I doubted he would ever make it to the NHL. I'm pleased to acknowledge I was wrong even if he doesn't amount to anything more than a #6 or #7.

He's playing his 1st NHL game in his 1st pro season on a good team. That must means something.

Not sure why you are so skeptical here. He was a quick 2nd round pick. We have 3 second round picks this year. Do you not feel they can be good either?

Nuff said!
I like this statistic. I'm sure there is more to it, but on the surface, it looks good.

By the way- is the title inaccurate. Re-called means he has been in the bigs previously.

Hate to be picky........

Patery is the second piece we got for Grabovski. Can't remember who we took with the 2nd rounder. Or did we flip it for one of BG/PG's annual rentals?

Meh, it was only one game, but I don't see any redeeming qualities that scream NHLer to me. Fairly average skill set.

As long as Pateryn stays unsexy and doesn't make mistakes I am happy!

Almost ten minutes of ice. No TB goals. Not bad for game one.

At least fear of disaster does not strike my heart like it did when Kaberle, Weber, or Campoli was on the ice.

Yup, has good size and plays a smart game. Some had concerns about his foot speed but he looked fine. Maybe not right now but I can see him being a steady #4-6 guy who plays a shutdown role and kills penalities like Scuderi or Gorges but a bit bigger.

He did his job, 9 shifts, no glaring mistakes, no goals against. Good debut.

Scuderi is pretty big. 6' 1" and 219 lbs.

He had a whiff at the point that started a Tampa rush the other way, but apart from that he looked ok.

That was just nerves. He was trying too hard to not make any mistakes.

Anytime a DMan plays a game and no goals scored while he is on the ice is a success.
