We'll be 7th or 8th seed when all is said and done.

Were 4 points from 5th, with 3 games in hand. This I think is a little premature

Lettuce be real tea for a second. 1-3 is out of the question since we won't be winning the division. I can see Montreal, Toronto and NJ getting the 4-6 slots. It's gonna be a 3 way battle between us, Islanders and Philly for the last few playoff spots.

Nj has sucked lately and I'm not sure Leafs are really for real. I could see 4th 5th or yes 8th

I don't think you can count out the Jets.

I'd say even the 6th seed isn't the worst goal. Play the SE winner would be I nice surprise from a (so far) underwhelming year.

This. Playing the SE winner can be better than playing the 8th seed this year.

Same as last year.
I say finish 6th. The plan then is for one of the lower seeds to eliminate either the 1st or the 2nd and bye-bye one of PIT/MTL/BOS. We're playing the 4th seed then (BOS or MTL) and see what this team is made of. But lets get there first.

Things are looking pretty good right now.

We shouldn't worry about Boston, Pittsburgh and Montreal taking up 1,2 and 4
Hopefully, the Sens keep up the Cinderella run, and stay ahead of us, finishing 5th.
Realistically, we should be able to pass the Leafs, and the two SE teams.
Winnipeg or Carolina will still finish 3rd (hoping Carolina. 'Peg could be scary in the POs)
That makes it:

Pens/Bruins/Habs
Pens/Bruins/Habs
Carolina/Jets
Bruins/Habs
Senators
Rangers

Whatever

Putting us up against what is realistically the weakest competition (like the Devils last year)

To me, I think that we'll be in when all is said and done. With the right moves at the deadline, we could be 5th/6. If not, we're 7th or 8th

Obviously, the most important thing is to keep winning.

But, if the Rangers sweep the home-and-home against Toronto next week, they should be in the conversation for the 5 seed.

Per Sportclubstats , we have a 71.6% chance of making the playoffs as of tonight.
In all honesty, I think .500 hockey can squeak us in. But I'm expecting we go AT LEAST something like 7-5-0, or even better at 8-4. But realistically I'd put money on 7-5. Which would give us theoretically 53 pts, throw in a OTL or 2 and we can get ~55 points. Enough for a 7th seed IMO.

We're still 5 points out of 6th (and 5th) with no games in hand.
That's looking a long way up. We're still looking down at the teams trying to catch up for now, unfortunately.

I'd rather be 8th than 7th as of now. I want nothing to do with the Habs in the playoffs.
The real plan has to be to beat TOR twice, and then hope for the 6th seed, kicking out the Caps in the first round.

Well, if we win both games against Toronto like I mentioned, we'd be 1 point out of 6th.
