Signing Zucarello, if it takes place, would most likely be precursored by a trade of two for one or a pick coming back. Could see that though...

Doubt it, this team is not in the mood to stockpile picks, they are going for it now.

Yeah but you could do a mid-level prospect for a low-round pick kind of thing. Like when we flipped Casey Wellman for a fourth or fifth or whatever it was to free up a contract spot. Nothing major, just something to give us some breathing room under the 50 SPC limit.

For some reason, what you're responding to reminded me of some comedy I was watching. They were talking about word association.

Guy 1: "When I say apple, you say.."
Guy 2: "Llama!"

So what are the earliest & latest dates that we could possibly see Fasth or Lindberg come over? How would their contracts affect the Rangers' status with respect to the 50 contract limit if they both came over?

Their regular season just ended, so with a first round ouster (not likely for either team), you could potentially see them over in about two weeks, I believe. More likely four weeks or so.

The good news is that they don't affect our contract situation at all. They're both under contract and on loan to their Swedish clubs. It's no different than any prospect under contract who's playing in the AHL.

AFAIK they both already count as they are loaned and over 20 years old.

I anticipate Noreau being signed and McColgan not. I don't understand how McColgan can have the same exact stats every year, play the same style every year, and have the same level of "peak" every year. I have never seen a player plateau in every single category, measurable, etc. like McColgan has.

To be fair because some people actually do think this way how many repeat champs have there been the last 15 years? Even the combo of malkin and Crosby only has one cup so far. Im not annoyed we havent won it all and I think ignoring the successes and great seasons we've had recently to focus only on the lack of a cup is not the right way to evaluate. I WOULD be annoyed however if we were a floundering garbage franchise like we were pre 05. We just had a season where we were one of the best reg season teams and we were just 2 game away from the finals so I can't help but be satisfied.

Our prospects fill a large portion of the teams spots including 3 of them being in the top 6 3-4 being in our top 4 on D and 1 being the best goalie in the league. Im pleased for sure with the direction we are headed in and the direction we have been taking.

It's just too unreasonable to demand in todays pro sports world that your team win at least one championship to be considered a success. Too many teams, too many unpredictable factors, fairly level cap field.

I would def listen to arguements that this coach is not getting nearly the best out of his players right now though and thats a big problem but I'm willing to see if it can right itself by next year since this year is such a crazy season. I'd be the first in line to rage about not getting an all world talent like Tarasenko though(and I really liked Armia too though I'm pleasantly surprised with Miller now and can't be too upset on that one)

Michael St. Croix

What a steal in the 2011 draft for the Rangers. Michael St. Croix is a great player. Just had 13 points in 4 games.

Probably needs a year in the AHL but I could see him replacing Stepan at the #2 Center spot in a few years.

Junior scoring is not something I'm going to use to measure prospects.

Where is Stepan going? Hopefully nowhere.

There is a great debate on MSC, whether he has the skills to be an NHL player or not. I am a fan, I think his upside is a 2C and sooner rather than later.

For a background on MSC, you can look here

Well he's an offensive player and so would need the 2nd center spot. Whatever moves are made. I don't watch Rangers games. Just the scores as I have Lundqvist on my fantasy team.

My opinion? To first line center. We are talking about in two years.

Let him prove himself in the playoffs and Memorial Cup (if his team gets there), before we proclaim him as a future NHL 2nd line player.

I don't consider Sarault or Reid Boucher "great" prospects either, even though they are great junior scorers. Junior scoring is very tricky. I didn't like how MSC's numbers declined in the PO's and especially the Memorial Cup.

well as long as torts is in charge he would just **** him up. offensive players like kreider, zucc, and parenteu tend to get run out of town by this *******

Hopefully. I think he can definately become a 1C in a few years. The OP made it sound like Stepan is getting traded or retiring.
