Yes but I would like it more if Pittsburgh and Columbus switched with Florida and Tampa.

I wouldn't really mind it if it weren't for the unbalanced playoff odds. It's ****ing retarded to go from each team having equal odds of making the playoffs to 57% vs. 50% chance depending on conference. I'm just baffled by this. Even if they insisted on 4 divisions they still could've split they conferences 15/15 vs 14/16.

Breaking up Detroit and Chicago is stupid enough. Let's not compound it by breaking up Pittsburgh and Philly.

Florida gets hosed. How are they not "Atlantic"?

I like how people are concerned more about how the teams fit with the geographic tagline of their division than about preserving rivalries...

Nope, dont like it.

I don't like the 16/14, and I don't like change in general.

Undecided.

I mean, I don't dislike it like I disliked Tim Horton's re-naming and re-jigging their cup sizes, which made me froth at the mouth (and not from the delicious whipped cream on their lattes) but I don't like it much either.

The only fun for me as a fan is we FINALLY get to see Columbus and Detroit more often and the players seem to like going south more often. Weirdos.

I'm up for anything that makes it more challenging to make the playoffs or win.

The best part about 16/14 is when Phoenix gets sold to Quebec City...

I don't like losing Detroit as a rival, but I like adding Minnesota, Dallas, Colorado, and Winnipeg.

I think this will help the Blues-Hawks rivalry.

no, the hawks lost their main rival and are now stuck in a conference with some of the most boring to watch teams in the nhl

if they had to move detroit to the east, i wish they'd moved chicago along with it and left columbus back in the west.

It was dumb enough to move Detroit East. Moving Chicago would've been financial suicide for the entire conference.

Shift Detroit to the Midwest and Colorado to the Pacific. It's that simple. And it solves the vast majority of Detroit's travel problems. Also doesn't have stupid assed uneven conferences, and wont create potential problems when Phoenix inevitably is sold to an owner with the intention of relocating.

I love the idea of every team playing in every arena and the extra emphasis on creating divisional rivalries, but I think the wild cards are stupid and they made some questionable decisions on which teams play in what division.

Overall I think it's an improvement, just not perfection.

I voted no because I'm not too crazy about 16/14 that's just unbalanced. But I think they did because although teams in the west have a 7% higher chance to make the playoffs its because there's a lot more travel in the west so it balances out a bit like that. Also the east will clearly be the more exciting conference to watch, there's no question about that really. I do however like how the Sharks-Canucks rivalry will get better and that Detroit is in the east where they belong but it doesn't make sense that Chicago is still in the west. I would have preferred if they just stuck with 6 divisions and switched Detroit and Winnipeg and then I guess put Detroit in the Northeast and Boston in the Southeast? Something like that anyway because basically the Atlantic division can't be touched since its pretty much perfect geographically, the battle of Ontario in the Northeast between Ottawa and Toronto has to remain, so do the Habs, Buffalo is right near Toronto so they have to stay so I guess moving Boston to the Southeast wouldn't be so bad but I don't know it would be tough moving Detroit to the east and making the divisions make sense.

16/14 is idiocy. I can't believe a professional high money sports league is okay with such blatant imbalance and unfairness.

As a habs fan yes...best division for sure

Habs
Bruins
Leafs
Sens
Red Wings
Lightnings
Sabres
Panthers

Not bad at all...get rid of the Panthers and we have the most exciting division closely followed by the Atlantic one (NYR, PHI, PIT, NJD, WSH)

as an Avalanche fan living in the EST, yes. They have a 3 in 7 chance to make the playoffs rather than a 3 in 8 chance. No more 10:00 PM division games. While I don't think any particular division appears particularly stronger than any other, I'm glad that Colorado is in a division with 4 teams that aren't spending close to the cap (despite the fact that Colorado isn't either) since there is a pretty definite correlation between spending money and winning hockey games. If the worst case scenario was being in the Pacific division and the best case scenario was being in a division with the six worst teams in the Western conference, the approved re-alignment is like a 7 or 8 out of 10.
