Why do people always assume that trading at the deadline will somehow guarantee winning? Anyone remember the Gonchar trade? We didn't win FA and He took off after the season was over so it turned out to be a waste.
The other half of it too is how many prospects are really going to get a fair chance to win a roster spot on a cup contending team?

Every summer we threads were people speculate on the roster and pencil in 3-4 rookies.

It just doesn't happen.

Agreed. However, you also have to keep the salary cap in mind as well.
As far as I know, the cap is going down next year and that'll put a pinch on the team's ability to keep all the players that are on roster right now (Not too sure who is up for renewal beyond Rask). Therefore it is possible to have some competition for 1 or 2 roster spots in the seasons to come.
Truth is no one knows really...time will tell.

I know Kirk wanted Boucher over Camara in round three. I drafted him in my SIM league that year because Kirk was so high on him.

I also remember Dom wanting Rieder, Boucher, Binnington and SETH GRIFFITH ahead of Camara...I'm very interested to see how this all turns out..

They just aren't good. In a league where eight of ten teams in each conference make the playoffs they're gonna miss barring some miraculous hot streak and a huge collapse by Saginaw. Old man Rychel probably shouldn't have held on to Khokhlachev.

He's got to be close to a goal per game since coming back from team Canada.

1.81 GAA in January
2.35 in February
2.66 in March

Lowest overall GAA in the OHL, second best SAV% by .002.

OHL career bests on GAA, SAV%, wins, shutouts, games played, minutes played.

Khokhlachev with three goals and two assists in 8-1 win over London. Six goals and six assists in four March games, 26 GP-21 G-26 A overall back as a Spitfire. Providence is about to get a good one. Camara scored a goal, nothing for Payne.
