OP is bloody awful.

However, there's got to be an equitable deal to be worked out here.

We can realistically afford to move Edler and a goalie, among other minor pieces. Philly fans have said these are pieces they need. We could use scoring help and a top 4 RS D-man.

What would be a reasonable deal from the Philly side?

That's so onesided, makes me think the OP has no idea who the players are.

Are you kidding? Maybe Bieksa but not Edler in that deal. If you're going to put Edler in that deal at least add Simmonds or B Schenn and we'll talk...

Wait you think Vancouver is getting screwed? Voracek is a top 10 scorer this year and Philly's pick is almost top 5. Flyers get screwed in the OP.

Of course the Canucks get screwed in the thread creators' first post. I was surprised it was a Canucks fan proposing such a lopsided screwjob of the Canucks. Edler is an annual Norris candidate, the Canucks goalie duo is the best in the league and just about every team would take either as their #1, plus a #2 pick??!!! Yeah Voraek is on a hot streak but the Canuck pieces to that deal put in that effort year after year. There is no guarantee with the Flyers players in the deal (not to say I don't like them). That's why I think adding someone reliable like Simmonds would make the trade bearable for the Canucks...

I hope there was supposed to be a "" at the end of your post. If not, then SMH @ how terribly you're overvaluing Edler and Schneider.

Highly doubt Philly would give us Voracek, Couturier AND what looks to be a top 10 pick in a deep draft. Gillis won't trade Edler after signing him to a contract with a NTC either.

Maybe something more like this?

To Philadelphia:
Roberto Luongo
Jordan Schroeder
Keith Ballard
Andrew Alberts

To Vancouver:
Jakub Voracek
Sean Couturier
Braydon Coburn
Michael Leighton

Cap works. Basically, Luongo+Schroeder for Voracek+Couturier with a swap of a Dman who doesn't fit well in Van and a Dman who is strugging in Phi. If Philly got something for Bryz on the trade market it might make sense for both teams.

Or I'm completely out to lunch *shrug*

How about Couturier + Coburn + 1st round pick (Top 10 protected in 2013, no restriction in 2014) FOR Edler + Schneider

Seems pretty fair to me.

Horrible for the Flyers. Like so bad that it's on the level of the OP. Actually nevermind, it's clearly worse than the OP.

You're removed Philly's 1st round pick, however you've also removed pretty much everything of value from Vancouver and replaced it with crap. You removed Edler and replaced him with Ballard. You removed Schneider and replaced him with Luongo and that horrendous contract. And then you added Alberts (trash) and Schroder (mediocre prospect).

To break this down:
Couturier >>> Schroder
Coburn >> Ballard
Voracek >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Alberts
Leighton <<<<<<<< Luongo (but Luongo's contract is terrible).

This is terrible.

My thinking was actually Voracek+Couturier for Luongo+Schroeder. Alberts and Leighton were added to offset salary and fill extra goalie position. (Ballard/Coburn was probably just complicating things for no reason in hindsight.)

I guess it comes down to how much value you place on Luongo and from the number of '<' characters you included when comparing Leighton to Luongo I think we differ pretty dramatically - but no desire to turn this into a Luongo thread so let's just not go there. I like Lu's contract more than Bryz's though

AKA Jeff Carter for Roberto Luongo and Jordan Schroeder (for perspective).

ya, the flyers are giving up way more than us there

I would think something like

Edler
1st

for

Couturier
Coburn

or something might be better

I would argue both players have increased their values since that trade

Probably, but I also probably wouldn't trade both Luongo+Schroeder for Jeff Carter. (At least under normal circumstances... you probably look at it more with Schneider on the roster to be fair.)

this is pretty close on value and something the Flyers might consider.

You guys sure seem eager to get rid of Coburn, something you're not telling us?

Well we already had one poster (Mak) get featured on Puck Daddy this week for his Embellishment City video. If they still do the 'awful proposal of the week' award we might be looking at two

That proposal is very unrealistic. That being said I wouldn't move Edler unless the return was out of this world you don't trade a top 2 dman when he's not playing his best hockey. Elite dman > elite forward in trade value every day any day. IMO

imo, centre>defenseman>winger, especially considering our current situation

Gillis signed Edler to a contract extension with a NTC. He's not getting dealt.
