You'd have to do some sort of boycott of Rexall movement to gain any real traction imo.

I think the only thing that will get Katz off his rear and make some changes to the management team is publicity... We need the media to get on board with the criticism, taking shots at the team, etc....
I don't see anything else working, besides a boycot of some kind that almost never gets off the ground.

Just don't go to the games
Heck I don't even watch the games on tv anymore. I just look at the boxscore on my phone when I take breaks from studying/watching my favorite tv shows

Not really much more to add - actually nothing more. You got 100% correct...

These are not great players - they are talented youngsters who have the potential to be great players. Right now, they are kids who have no confidence in either management or themselves. They are being taught how to be losers!

And yes - they will be looking for the opportunity to play on a winning team; to go home over the summer feeling proud of themselves.

Absolutely disgusting what Katz / Lowe / Tambellini are doing both to the players & to the fans...

I'll be completely honest... I'm okay with this team not making the playoffs this year. But I'm more appalled by the fact that last offseason the Oilers added two rookies and called it a day.

It was painfully obvious what was missing last season. Either Tambellini doesn't see it, or can't get a deal done to acquire it.

He's had his time with this organization. Send him back to Vancouver.

For the record - it is on the record for those willing to search my HFBoards posts - I was 100% opposed to Katz buying the team from EIG.

Those in favor claimed Katz would spend to the cap annually to guarantee a winner - we are presently in the bottom 25% is salary expenditures once again. And in the bottom 10% in the standings.

Actually, now that I think about it - Katz has done a great job as the owner. None of the players on my slo-pitch team misses any games in May to attend playoff games; my apologizes Daryl...

Have to agree. I was very against Katz buying the team, 1 guy in charge generally creates problems because its either his way or nothing. When you have multiple owners you need a consensus to get things done and generally smarter decisions are made that way.

With all of the Katz supporters the complete opposite has happened.

1. We don't spend to the cap
2. We're not competitive
3. we've enjoyed the worse years in franchise history under him
4. The guy threatened to move to seattle (life long Oiler fan I thought?)
5. Bent over the city for the arena deal, then when he couldn't get 6 mil a year in free money threatens to move!? (sorry that the sweet deal you had was not enough).

The funny part is i've actually served him at a restaurant and he seemed like a nice guy, however, his actions are extremely questionable.

Personally I'd rather have a crappy team in Edmonton with at least a faint hope of getting better someday than no team in Edmonton.

I personally think Katz and Lowe and Company want a strong team again... they may be screwing up how they are going about it... but I think the underlying will is there to make it happen again. I still have faith... naive as it may be... that this team will become a solid contender again but there may still be several dark and turbulent years ahead.

The funny part of your post is that a friend of mine stated she served Katz / Lowe / Horcoff at a restaurant shortly after Horcoff signed the 6 year (5.5 million annual cap hit) contract.

I knew then that those who were stupid enough to buy season tickets were fuc*ed... Everything unfolded as I expected it would...

Well from my understanding Horcoff's contract wasn't exactly because of his skill. To be nice about it i don't think its any wonder why Horcoff lives where he does in this city.

Lowe is an OG. I actually want the first oiler to score a goal to stay. The person who actually makes all the moves and is in charge is Tambs. He's pathetic and is an esoteric minded character. He fluked out with the draft picks, and Katz will never fire him. They all have dinner together on a weekly basis and probably share more than just a conversation. Just like how Katz said he'd never fire MacT, and Craig due to his undying love for the oilers, voluntarily stepped down. I believe root of the problem is the owner. He's done great with the arena project, well, at least it got done, but nonetheless, he said the fans are #1, so he really needs to listen. Because we know what we're talking about, and this GM needs to go man. He needs to watch MoneyBall, and realize that he need's to step it up 300% or step down

If that's really your main argument to keep Lowe around, that's a pretty weak point. Memories and nostalgia are terrible reasons to keep someone around when it is clearly time for them to go. Would you want Gretzky to come back and be the coach seeing as he put Edmonton on the map?

Yup, just to think of it. So many of the mouth breathers here were adamant that the EIG was Satan incarnate & that Katz was the solution to all the teams ills.
Similar to those that blamed MacT for everything.
But of course, they never nut up & say they had no clue

It really is time to make a statement....Boycott next home game? Bring signs? Paper bags?

Will they even allow signs saying to fire Tambo, Lowe and company into rexall?

No need to boycott games. Start long and hard chants, might I suggest "Lowe must go"

Chant this during a HNIC broadcast and it will get huge play. The Leafs did it with Ron Wilson, it works.
