Watch tonight when the players take the ice. Notice who comes out last in what was Nash's normal "Captaincy" position.
I know the answer, just curious if anyone else has noticed it.
I want to say I've seen him out last even when Nash was still here, fist-bumping the players as they make the turn into the tunnel.

If you're referring to Umby, he's always 2nd to last. He's the first one in the hall, then fist bumps everyone as they go by, then lets one player in behind him.
It used to be Nash, which is how I got the great shot of him in the call to arms video.

Brandon Dubinsky will be named the next captain of the CBJ. Once healthy I would expect this to come into focus shortly.

Richards seems to like him a lot, that's for sure.
Whoever the captain is, I would hope they take less maintenance days than Rick "Maintenance Day" Nash.

Why on earth do we have Boll and Dorse as "A"s? That is humiliating. I understand that they both stick up for the team but that's what they get paid to do. If Dorse or Boll didn't fight...They wouldn't be in the league. Neither has ever been in the playoffs?
The only people on this team who wear A's should be: Prospal, JJ, Wiz, Umby, Tyuts, and Dubi.

If it's being driven from the locker room and the coaching staff then I have no problem with it whatsoever. We have no idea what the team dynamic is and if that's the way they want it fine with me.
Hard to argue with the attitude and effort we are seeing.

Just because they aren't top line players, shouldn't matter if they are leaders. Dorsett in particular was a standout player for this horrible team last year, and absolutely has earned a letter ... at least until someone else comes along and works harder, does more of the "little things", and tried as hard to win.
As Roadman mentioned - look at the way the team is playing. That's all we need worry about.
Maybe we can use the C to recruit a UFA here that would not otherwise choose us. Boll won't be Captain...Aucoin will be gone... Vinny might take it for a year...
Seriously - C is a big deal, and to give some UFA the chance...
...and we will give them 2 extra million and 3 extra years.
And a ride on the Zamboni.
And a Zoo pass.
Ignoring the end of the post, I do think the C might help lure someone here who is on the fence.

I disagree with your reasoning here ... a player isn't going to sign somewhere just because of the added notion that he can wear a letter... and any player that would, I wouldn't want on my team. Captains earn it in every aspect of the word, and the type of players I want on my team are the type of players who want to play for a well established leadership core, and add to it.

I think there are only a very small handful of players in history that deserve to be given the C on a new team without earning it. Most of them are retired and in the HOF or will be there shortly. (Gretzky, Lemieux, Yzerman) Any that are active in the league right now will never see UFA status. (Crosby, Toews)
Am I the only one that thinks this season proves that being a captain in the NHL is over rated at times if you have the right group of players?

DMac! He is one if not the hardest workers on the team, has established leadership and respect on the team and would be a great captain IMHO. The guy who wears the "C" does not have to be a superstar or the loudest guy, but DMac has intangibles that you want in a leader. Think Chris Clark for Washington and later CBJ, but they were in the race for the most points for a team every year and Ovie, Backstrom, Semin among others and it really worked out for them (yeah I know, no SC) but what a great team. Just my $.02

No, I agree and I'm sure we're not alone in this. There is a lot of captain material on this club, I'd like to suggest a few myself, but you can't give a captaincy after the team plays it's most impassioned hockey ever without one.
