Let's just use this bad season to our advantage and try to get a top Dman in the draft instead of blowing up our offensive core.
Everyone whose last name isnt Giroux, Simmonds, Voracek, Schenn, Grossmann or Couturier should be made available without question

I said that we should pursue him as well in the trade rumors thread, especially if we can get the panthers To retain some of the cap hit

I'd add Coburn but sounds about right.

That's right, but I don't see who isn't in that list would get you a top defenseman.

I'd have both Schenns on that list.

anyway, i think the lines need another shake up. i would like to see:

Simmer-G-Jake
Gags-Schenn-Read
Hartnell-Briere/Couturier-Briere/Couturier
Fed-Talbot-Zac

this way you have two lines with players who i wouldn't classify as struggling offensively followed by a quality energy line and a line of misfit toys so-to-speak that can hopefully get each other going.

Simmer replaces hartnell on the 1st line as i haven't seen much chemistry between g and hartsy this year. Schenn needs a better winger then Briere and Gags w/ Read looked pretty good last game. i know lavy was trying Schenn at wing again at the end of the bruins game which i believe to be a mistake so this way he stays at center too. Briere moves back to center as he's disguising to watch otherwise and pair him back up with hartnell to see if maybe they can feed off each other. Couturier could use some more ice time imo if he's going to get any confidence back so this way he gets some ice time and can help out the defensively inept briere when he's not turning over the puck . Richards played wing when he was younger and couturier played some wing in juniors so it's not a long term solution but rather just to get him some confidence. ultimately i guess you would swap couturier with briere to get the only right hand shot on the right side.

In the spirit of the tank I propose we play Zac Rinaldo on every line.

Send a message via AIM to DrinkFightFlyers
I think if they lose tonight it may be the beginning of the end.

people said the same thing about Voracek. You don't give up on players with potential cause they have a rough season or two considering how young they are. though i agree if you could get a #1 D-man for a package centered around him you go for it but that won't happen.

They could easily win tonight. The Flyers have the talent to beat the lower teams, but lack the cohesion/drive/balls/whatever to beat the good teams.

Without any of that, they lose regardless of the team.

Buffalo's already spotted 4 goals and the game didn't even start yet.

The Shamrock Shake commercial just came on TV... maybe the team needs some "mint" to win?

true but sometimes a great effort by a single player can carry a team to victory against lesser teams. that isn't often the case against the good teams. but yeah if they don't hustle or play with some damn heart they most likely won't win tonight either.

i have a feeling they'll actually win which is always a good thing but in the long term will actually be worse for the team for several reasons.

...just based on the fact the flyers are starting leighton i assume. the league punishes the team stupid enough to taint the game at the NHL level with his presence.

Yeah I was totally going for the Michael Leighton effect there.
