3 points (1G 2A) and +1 for Dumba tonight. Continuing the roll he's been on ever since returning to the team

It'd be really nice for Dumba to be NHL ready next year.

In any case glad to see he's turned it around since getting sent back.

Wooo!! If Dumba can be a really good offensive defenseman to pair with Brodin that would be superb!

Suter/Gilbert

Brodin/Dumba

Spurgeon/Stoner

Falk

Would that be the top 6?

The question is is raanta a one season wonder or is this the new prolific game of he's

You have to think that raanta might well be a columbus player next season unless wild puts their claws on him fast i doubt they do with the wealth off goalies wild has but it might be like giving columbus their 1 building block for free

Raanta has been a sleeper cell so far always being the 2 goalie
Raanta is probably coming to the States next season, some team will throw him with at least an AHL contract. He's such a fighter. He will come over, start as a backup in AHL and fight his way to being a NHL starter. He's not the biggest guy ever, but oh so damn fast and positionally like a turning brick wall. He's 5'10.

I don't see any reason to break up Brodin/Suter

Probably something like...

Suter - Brodin
Gilbert - Dumba
Stoner/Falk - Spurgeon

Brodin plays the right side, and although Gilbert does too, I think (hope) they'd move him over before breaking up the top pairing. If Dumba isn't ready for 2nd pairing minutes, then he can play with Stoner or Falk on the 3rd.

As great as that pairing is, I'm not sure how well a Dumba/Gilbert pair would work.

Which is why I suggested the pairing with Brodin. I feel like Dumba's going to need a shutdown D playing with him his first few years in the league.

I know Brodin isn't your normal young player, but do we want a defensive pairing with a combined age under 40? Not sure.

With Dumba being a right handed shot you could slide him right on to the number 1 PP unit with Suter since they want a right hander there so bad

Exactly. Why have those guys develop chemistry and become quite comfortable together if you're going to break them up next year? Suter already noted how they are starting to learn each others habits out there. This is what we want. It's made them both better. You don't start off next year by #@$!ing that up and forcing them to start all over again with a new partner. Besides, we could see a trade this summer to bring in another defenseman....maybe one who could work better with Dumba. Although to be honest, I think Dumba is still 1-2 years away from the NHL anyway. Don't rush him. Brodin was a rare exception that worked out.

One of the things that made Suter and Weber so good was that they were a team within a team. They were consistent, because they were familiar with each other. Suter got lucky with Brodin, because this kid plays like an NHL vet. But that won't happen with Dumba. Making Suter babysit a new rookie could result with his own effectiveness being in jeopardy. And it could hurt Brodin as well. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Haula 2gp 1-3=4
Bussieres 3gp 1-5=6 +4
Dumba 4gp 3-2=5 +4
Scandella 2gp 0-2=2 +1
Kuemper, Gustaffsson = 1.0 GAA

PHILLIPS WATCH
2gp 0-1=1 even

NOTES
Connelly was about a -4 on the week.
Kampfer has been about +10 the last six weeks.
Scandella is back.
Graovac and Bussieres are trading good weeks. Last time I recall something like this it was Almond and McMillan, but with less scoring.
For Penticton, their #4 and #5 scorers are Troy Stecher and Brad McClure. I glanced and read it as Troy McClure. If that were the case, I'd sign that kid right now.

Not gonna lie. When the rest of these kids come up we are going to have a situation on our hands The only issue about getting them all in the last 3 years, is they all are basically coming up at the same damn time!

A kid we're overlooking might be Gunnarsson. I could see him cracking the top 6 next year. That's based on how good he looked at the prospect camp.

I really want Scandella in the lineup too. But as far as Gunnar, I think we definitely need to see more of him.

Dumba: guesses on when he cracks the wild lineup?

Two seasons from now.

It's either here or juniors again next season because of his age, IIRC. He's seemed to struggle a bit this season consistency wise, and I think he could use just one final season to work it all out. It looks like he's mostly gotten his stuff together since he went down from Wild camp, and next season he should get his nine-game look and then probably go back.

But it would not surprise me much if he made the lineup as a 3rd pairing/PP type guy similar to Spurgeon's position now.

Disagree.

Offensively, he's behind Suter, Gilbert, Brodin, and Spurgeon.

Defensively, he's behind Falk, Stoner, and Scandella.

Now toss in Gunnarson.

I think it makes a lot of sense to bring Dumba along slowly. He got to work on a lot of things still.

Yep, no need to rush him. Another season in the juniors and maybe even a season in the AHL after that will do him nothing but good.

Think about it:

Suter
Brodin
Gilbert
Spurgeon
Stoner
Falk
Scandella
Prosser
Gunnarsson
Dumba

Now toss in the possibility of seeing Nick Seeler around the same time as Dumba, and we're SOLID on D.

i agree Dumba is probably better served brought along slowly, but I don't think you could know his offense is behind anyone else. Likely behind Suter, yes, but the others? He could very well outscore any of them if given their minutes. doesn't mean the liability he presents while he does it will make it worthwhile. I think he'll have an easier time getting comfortable playing a nice, boring fundamentals game in the AHL and he'll be a lot freer to work on his decision making down there.

That said, he could secure a 3rd pairing/PP specialist role out of camp. He'll have a lot of access to coaches with prospect camp and the full NHL preseason. As i argued with Brodin (against those who thought he could at best make the third pairing and thus would be better off playing more minutes in Houston) a technical third pairing spot does not = third pairing minutes necessarily, or a stunting of development.

The thing i think most likely to keep Dumba off the team is how he faces personal adversity...see how he reacts after bad shifts, or being benched. As a dynamic player, he's going to get burned pretty regularly as he enters the league but he has to keep playing that way to live up to his potential, and he isn't going to learn to pick his spots without making bad choices every once in a while. He isn't the cerebral player Brodin is...I think his game and motivation relies more on passion and while that's a huge positive, it makes you more susceptible to slumping as you take every failure as a flaw of character rather than an event you can analyze and correct. I expect to have somewhat of a Brent Burns aura about him when he's coming into his own in the NHL--electrifying player that brings with him a sense of impending danger. His rookie year, whenever it comes, isn't going to be as smooth as Brodin's is this year...but just because it isn't, doesn't mean he isn't developing or that he needs more time in the AHL. Brodin has set the bar incredibly high...be careful not to judge anyone by it.
