This looked really bad about a week ago. Holy overreaction by media. It looks like soccer and cricket are clean and 6 NRL and 2 AFL clubs are involved. Still a big issue off course but not a doomsday as some predicted.

Ireland prop Cian Healy will miss two Six Nations games after being banned until 10 March for stamping on Dan Cole in Sunday's defeat by England.

For those following rugby league looks like Ben Barba could miss most of the season. He's been suspended indefinetely by Doggies.

Sorry guys, but I have to come here to boast

I played rugby union several times against these twins who now play professional rugby league for Warrington.

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/g...n-2275058.html

They're from the same hometown as me and we even played on the same soccer team when we were kids, their school was my school's rival school, their school always beat us at rugby and they produced dozens of Wales national team players, though during my years we often ran them close, they pretty much only won because of these two guys at that age they were unstoppable.

It's been a few years since I stopped following rugby league, the Evans twins left for their scholarships when they were very young and I also left our hometown at the same age so I had no idea they had actually made it as pros until recently. Rhys looks exactly how I remember him, I always thought it was hilarious how they were polar opposites of each other.

There were a fair few guys in my school who went on to play for the Ospreys academy, but I don't think any of them made it pro.

League is a sport of kings !

Tremendous athleticism, speed, endurance and of course toughness.

Glad the NRL season has commenced, Rabbitohs over the Chooks 22-4.

Pity about the shoulder charge being scrapped..

The loss of the shoulder charge isn't anywhere near as big of a deal as some tried to make it out to be.

Look at the game tonight, still some big hits dished out, no shoulder charges needed. You can still smash guys with your shoulder without it being a "shoulder charge".

Small price to pay for increased player safety.

George Burgess is an animal, looking forward to seeing all four of them on the field.

Last night I watched Warrington v St. Helens, I hadn't seen a game in years and I have no idea why I stopped watching. The Wales v Scotland game today was an abomination compared to it.

I knew that was utter bullcrap right from the start. Oh and I have a work pal with strong Cowboys connections and she thought the same.

Very sad case.

On the bright side, Jonathon Thurston ain't going anywhere any time soon and I couldn't see his bromance with Matty Bowen being broken up.

I am in Sydney next week for 10 days and I. Am considering going to watch the Cowboys play in Newcastle.

Get your work pal with the strong Cowboys connections to hook me up with some autographs

Got a retweet and reply from Tariq Sims tonight awww yeah lol.

Great news that JT is staying with you guys, still my favourite player in the comp. He was good value on Sunday Footy Show. Warriors were terrible this week.

Booked me and my partner tickets to go over for Origin game 3 and also the Warriors vs Tigers at Leichardt the other day, can't wait.

Tariq is one classy bloke.

The moment he found out about the "Adopt a School" program that the Cowboys have had in place for a few years (pretty much how a school can adopt a Cop - you get the gist), he requested to be placed in a Special School if there was one here (which ther is) and the kids there absolutely love him

Matty Bowen on the other hand is the funniest person on twitter

Yes, big collisions still occur without the shoulder charge present (just look at Union), but it was an unique trait of League.

I fail to see how a clean shoulder charge is a threat to player safety, you can still get concussed from a textbook tackle or even a more innocuous play (perhaps hitting the turf awkwardly).

By all means enforce policies that prevent and punish head hunting should it occur, but I don't think the shoulder charge should have been banned outright. There is a place for it, just as there is a place for proper tackling.

Shoulder charges accounted for 0.05 % of all tackles in 2012, that's 0.05% of 142,355 tackles, they are/were a very small part of the game.

17% of those resulted in contact with the head of the attacking player, it happened whether it was legal or not. The most memorable shoulder charges were always ones that ended up in suspensions/injuries. Inglis murdering Young, Pritchard destroying Wade Graham etc. If the players had been more responsible in their use of the "legal" shoulder charge, the it may not have come to this, but it did. Elijah Taylor still did one anyway in the Warriors game, Rose did one in the All Star game.

As someone who watches who every NRL game every week, didn't miss them at all in in week 1. The investigation into shoulder charges that they did found they were a tiny part of the game and their removal would have little effect on the on field product, and that's exactly what we saw in week 1.

Matulino, one of the best shoulders in the business, still smoked a couple of guys.

Was not expecting to win by that margin, it was extremely satisfying watching with all my English friends, they were mad

Fa'aoso further validates the shoulder charge ban by sending Harrison off on a stretcher.

It was a real shame for Harrison , given it was game 250 for him. Very nice win by the Titans in what was a really good game.

Man, the Dragons are piss poor. No fluidity or creativity on attack, it's about how long they can stave off the other team from scoring a string of tries..
