It's not concussion related, Bylsma publicly said so, and I believe him because last time he publicly noted that they were holding him with a possible concussion last time.
There was a tweet by Josh Yohe saying Chris Stewart (one of the Penguins trainers lol) was looking at Malkin's shoulder.
Hopefully just a bad contusion that makes movement painful, but not for structural reasons. Rest up Geno; we can be thankful Lucic won't be pounding on him for 2 games. Silver Linings ya know...

I was thinking this too. Maybe Crosby should have a couple maintenance days that are strategically scheduled to take place during those games as well
Any indication as to whether he'll be placed on the IR?
It's of zero consequence right now because with Boychuk gone and Kostopolous claimed, we don't need the roster space. He can be placed on IR retroactive to any time, but I don't see the Pens needing to do that unless they make a significant trade -- and even if that were to happen, there would most likely be at least one roster player (i.e. Kennedy, Jeffrey or a Dman) is going the other way.

Has anyone seen that preview for that Russian movie he and Kovalchuk are staring in?
Not sure if it was discussed already or not. I have no clue what it's about since I have zero knowledge of Russian.
i saw a hilarious trailer. apparently it's a kids/teen/tween movie about a girl who ends up with some magic wishes that were intended for a young kid, in order to keep the wishes for herself, she sets about making the kids wishes come true - one of the wishes has to do with playing with Geno and Kovy - hi-jinks ensue.

Ensue indeed.
From the preview it seems they have top billing too.
I guess Ovechkin's grey hair would scare children instead of inspire whimsy.
When i wrote this there was no information given about his injury that i could find. If it is a shoulder injury and it is a week or two weeks, then it isn't so bad. Still sucks. Can not blame me... Lack of info and so soon after a concussion had me worried. *wears his tin foil hat with pride* Dem aliens won't be able to probe me now. That is their functionality is it not? What do you mean it is not?!
IMO, expect him back early next week. I think he'll sit the Bruins game out because of the specific type of injury he's healing from. Even if they think he's healthy and extra day's rest and avoiding Lucic for 60 minutes is probably a wise idea.
Are you thinking mild shoulder separation? That was my guess -- but haven't heard anything to substantiate that aside from "upper body," and speculation that is was some kind of shoulder issue (which makes sense from the looks of the hit).
Sometime next week would be great...the progress Bennett has made over the past several games makes me eager to see Geno back centering that line...

As much as I want to see him back this is all I can think about and agree.
