It feels like he is just missing a step. I think if we could replace him with someone else that can play at a high tempo it would be beneficial. He has not been terrible but I think this is an area we can easily upgrade. But hey that's just me.

What I've learned from this amazing season so far:

-- very difficult to be critical at any level with a team playing as well as habs (not a great time to be a critic)

-- most HF prescriptions have been wrong and rash (DD, Gionta, Ryder, Bourque, White, Therrien)

-- management actually seems to know what they're doing

With that said, I honestly don't know what to think of Armstrong. What we do know is that Therrien isn't afraid to scratch or bench players. Therefore, if Armstrong is playing, he must be doing his job, especially if the team is winning. I think this is a case where the stats sheet and even on ice performance must only reflect part of the story.

I think adding some depth for the playoffs would be perfect. Last time the Habs won the cup, they added veterans Gary Leeman and Rob Ramage...

A guy like Chuck Kobasew, who'll be UFA this summer, would be nice. Or maybe a Vinny Prospal, Mark Letestu, Eric Fehr or Milan Hejduk.

We can keep him as 13th forward until Bourque returns. Then he can be 14th forward/first call-up. Depth is nice come playoff time.

As for the poll, trade Armstrong+something for a better 4th liner

He doesnt bring toughness and no grit ? Why? Because he doesnt fight ?
He doesnt bring production ? Does it mean he's bad ? He's dominant on the boards. a

Oh so wrong... What does he do if he doesnt bring/take away energy ? He wears down other player with his awesome board battling skills and he gets us energy with the big hits.

Be cautious of what you hear on RDS, please.

You know a team is having a great year when their fourth liners are the players that fans complain about the most, lol.

If you can move Armstrong and a mid-round pick/marginal prospect for an equally good player except he fights often, then do it.

Otherwise, it's fine to just keep playing him on our fourth line. He's our new Tom Pyatt, guys. Which is fine as long as the rest of the team is scoring, which it is.

i actually voted to keep him but to say he`s been fantastic, or that he`s been gritty.. give me a break.

My only reason to keep him in is that he is reliable defensively and I think he`s a popular guy in the room.

Pyatt is scoring at a third-line rate. Armstrong, not so much.

Armstrong has played all his carreer on the left side even if he has a rightie shot.

Maybe he would be more productive if he would be moved back on LW ?

Right, but Pyatt couldn't score at all when he was with us.

Armstrong is much the same as what Pyatt was like when he was in a Habs uniform - Defensively reliable and decent work ethic/compete level, but couldn't score if his life depended on it. That's tolerable on the fourth line as long as you're getting enough offense from the Top 9 and your D. And we are.

Colby Armstrong, the power is yours !

Bleu!
Blanc!
Rouge!

GO HABS!

With your powers combined I am Colby Armstrong!

Colby Armstrong, he's our hero,
Gonna take intimidation down to zero,
He's our powers magnified,
And he's fighting on the Habs side

Colby Armstrong, he's our hero,
Gonna take intimidation down to zero,
Gonna help him put us under,
Bad guys who like to hit us over and over

"You'll pay for this Colby Armstrong!"

We're the habitants,
You can be one too!
'Cause saving our franchise is the thing to do,
Hitting and diving is not the way,
Hear what Colby Armstrong has to say:

"THE POWER IS YOURS!!"

If it ain't broke, why fix it?
Sure he brings nothing offensively, but he kills penalties and is good at keeping the puck in the offensive end.

He's a great team guy and the chemistry is great.

I have to admit that Captain Planet/Colby Armstrong bit was hilarious, lol.

It's funnier when you picture someone from the Leafs Organization saying "You'll pay for this Colby Armstrong!"

I liked him too but I like Dumont better there. If he can work on his speed and agility with the trainers this summer, he can be an awesome 4C for us. If Noke doesn't mind being the 13th forward, sure bring him back.

Wrong. Pyatt didn't have a zero goal season with us (though admittedly 6 goals in 118 games is low). Tommy also had a higher compete level than Colby and MUCH greater speed. Pyatt was a third-liner who unfortunately lost favour with the fans and Jacques Martin after the beatdown by Campbell illegally using his elbow pad. But the Habs record with Pyatt in or out of our lineup was vastly different. He contributed quality minutes and helped protect leads moving up even onto a top two line late in close games.

When Pyatt played with Moore and Lapierre in the 2010 playoffs, they were an excellent third line and scored some important goals.

Armstrong on the other hand is a useless, low-performance automaton. He should be a spare ideally.

I recall you always had a strong love for Tom Pyatt. Your whole ''our record with Pyatt" shtick is hilarious.

But I don't think he'd have a job here as a ''3rd liner'' and personally content with him not taking a 3rd line spot.

He's far from a Therrien type.

Dumont could take Army's spot right now and not cause any changes on the ice. We can keep Army for depth, but right now I'd say play our youth, we have the luxury of being 1st.
