BTW, today is sort of a happy birthday for Gagne. (Feb. 29 is the actual date).

Happy B-Day Gagne! How does it feel to be 8.25 years old?

So what do you guys think of his play thus far? I was and still am a fan of the move back, but I have to say I don't think he's more than a body with a name that looks good on paper when put with Read on the same line. I know he scored a couple, but other than that I don't think he has shown much or anything in terms of offense. I guess I was just expecting too much to come out of this, but his offensive play seems to be on Talbot's level.

He's been quick, making smart plays, putting up a couple of goals and probably one of the best things I noticed is that he makes really crisp, beeline passes. He may not be very physical, but he knows how to use his stick well. Talbot just got his 2nd goal and he's been here all season. Gagne just got his 2nd goal in 6 games back for the Flyers.

He's been ok so far. If you were thinking he was the Gagne of old when we traded for him. Then I'm sure people will be disappointed. It was worth a shot and a low risk trade.

I think he's been pretty good all things considered. i mean his regular line mates have been tablot, couturier and read. we all know couturier and talbot have been struggling mightily this season offensively speaking especially and read is coming back from injury so it'll take him a while to get going again. i doesn't have the shot he used to be he's still a smart player with great instincts. with the right line-mates he could put up some points.

He hasn't been healthy in 3 years. He's not going to be the 45 goal guy he was with forsberg. If he stays healthy and gets PP time, he could still a 30/30guy max, who has scored clutch goals and is responsible defensively. Not to mention a fan favorite, it's really a win/win situation.

Simon coming back has been one of the few bright spots of this season.

Eh. Not a bad use of a 4th rounder at all. He's an improvement on wing, and a vet.

I think part of that is how he's being used / who he's playing with. He's played an awful lot w/ Couturier, who's been like a black hole of offense this year. And he's also been a part of our dreadful 2nd power-play unit. If you actually used him as a 2nd line forward, you might see some more production, but overall I've been very pleased w/ his play.

If he winds up looking like he could be a 35-40 point forward at the end of the year, I'd resign him. Presuming he'd accept being paid like a 35-40 point player.

What has become more and more apparent to me about Gagne is that he really doesn't have hands. I guess I always pictured him as being a smooth stick-handler, but he's really just more of a smooth skater. He whacks at the puck a lot. Lot of slap passes, lot of whacking to dump the puck. He has a great shot, but he's not that normal type of finesse hockey player who is a great shooter and can dangle well.

Still love him. Really happy to see 'Gagne' on the back of a Flyers jersey again.

I think 30/30 is way too optimistic. I see him as a 20/20 third line guy with 2nd PP time who can also fill in on the 2nd line for a couple games and not look too out of place.

Maybe my eyes deceive me or maybe I'm misremembering how good he was when he was here before, but he seems to give the puck away along the wall a lot. I can see why Sutter didn't think he was a fit in LA. I think he could shoot more too, but I'm still glad to have him back and I'm willing to give him more time before judging.

I'm glad he's back and I hope he isn't one of those players that hangs on way too long. He's playing pretty much the same way as he did in LA. I thought he'd score a bit more in Philly since the east is so much wilder.

I would be surprised if Gagne ever eclipsed 40 points more than once again. He can still skate, and you don't forget how to play defense, it just matters if he can physically handle the tough matchups as a 3rd line player. He is 33, but it seems like his body is closer to 37 or 38. If he can produce 15 goals and 20 assists, I'd keep him around.

I could see him finishing his career as a Sami Kapanen type player. I'd be game to keep him around for that reason alone.

Looks like Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones and Kimmo, with their heads switched.

I'd offer Gagne a deal like Talbot's, with incentives for points and stuff.

Great. Maybe he can bake some cake for the boys while he's keeping the smudges off his nameplate.

I have been really impressed with him. He is such a smart player...he makes a lot of nice little passes and really knows his way around the net...the guy knows how to get open. I think he can still put up points if he is with the right players. Right now, it seems like Coots and Read arent always ready for his passes and have a hard time finding him when he is open...I think moving Briere to his line will help.
