I would say that he's worth pretty much exactly what he is currently paid due to being fairly versatile and a right-handed shot. He doesn't really do anything great but he's not terrible at anything either. A #5 who with the right partner can play in the top4. He can log minutes without any problem.

It is a disappointing list. I remember reading at this time last season, what a strong ufa market we'd have in 2013.

I'm guessing that teams have been locking their best players up, like the Ducks recently did with Getzlef.

For the Flyers, I'd be interested in the following:

Toni Lydman
Robyn Regehr
Rob Scuderi
Douglas Murray
Ladislav Smid
Mark Fistric

Each of these guys would provide some more physical play, shot blocking, and strong defense. Next season, I'd like to see the Flyers move towards a more defensive style of play (with or without Laviolette), and I think adding one of these guys to our third pair would be a good play.

Smid will get five million a year from someone if he hits the market.

Some NYI fans don't want to give him 3 yrs, they feel his play has dropped off. But, he's playing injured, playing on a leg that needs rest to heal.
Id rather get Viz at 2 years 10 mil....But hes headed home after this year....

Striet is playing Injured and has looked good recently....If the price is right I hope we get a deal done with him, if not try and get a team to pony up at the deadline

Leafs don't have much interest in LHD, but I can definitely see them going after Ryan O'Byrne to upgrade on Kostka or Holzer.

Yeah, there is a log-jam of lefties on the Leafs and in the pipeline. I don't think it's really as big of an issue as it's made out to be, though. Carlyle played with it to begin the season and he will be forced to at some point here in the future. I wouldn't balk at adding a good top-4 d-man like Smid who would compliment the team well because Holzer and Kostka are right-handed defenseman.

Yup, think so too. I'd pay it for him, actually.

actually, i'm wondering what kind of money a khl team would offer smid. Sure, he's not a star by any means, but is 6-7M out of the question?

i dont think he'd sign, but it would give him a bit more leverage in contract talks.

Smid would be solid. Hoping Coburn or Volchenkov get bought out myself

I expect and want Tambo to bring the brinks truck for Smid before Tambo eventually gets canned. The only defense I can see sticking with the Oilers longer term is Smid, Schultz and maybe Petry. It would be a travesty if they let a defenseman they developed go to FA while having no replacements. If he goes to FA I will lose any hope I have in Tambo

Smids value is around 4.5 to 4.75 million but on a normal FA market hell get 5 and with a bad FA market a desperate team might even give him 5.5.

I'd love to build a trade around Smid and Ryan O'Byrne/Shane O'Brien + conditional future assets depending on if Smid resigns with the Avs. O'Brien would bring back some toughness and some locker room leadership. I'll be shocked if Smid even gets a whiff of the FA market.

Why on earth would the Flyers but out Coburn? That would never happen.

When people say Douglas Murray is slow, I don't think people understand. He may be the slowest skater in the NHL, it would surprise me to find anyone was slower honestly. He cannot throw big hits anymore because he literally can't skate fast enough to do it. He still counter hits like no-one else in the league, but that's only when someone is stupid enough to run into him.

Love the guy, sad to see this happening to him, but I expect his time in the NHL is coming to an abrupt end here.

Other than the reported St. Louis rumors, is anyone interested in Hainsey as a rental?

Them's fightin' words. Since we lost out on the All-Star break skills competition, could we have Dougie race Antropov just for fun?

For the Leafs, I'd like to see Smid or White. Always was a solid guy.

As a habs fan , I thought it would be a good idea to cash in on Markov before the deadline and replace him in the summer with a free agent. Never had confidence in the knee holding up and getting another good pick and prospect sounded good to me. But looking at that list, I don't know about considering that anymore, especially the way he's playing. I think they should be resting him on the 2nd nite of back to back games a coupla times to give some of the other kids more minutes and also cut him back to 20 minutes a nite so he has something in the tank come the play-offs though.

I'd take any of these guys on the Blues. Cole is still developing and Russel can be inconsistent. Top 4 is set with Petro, Shattenkirk, Jackman, Polak.
