I've been saying for years the team needs more Greeks.

Allen is strongly implying the team's 2012 cap room and trade to position themselves to draft RG3 prompted other teams to penalize them

A lot coming out on twitter from Allen at the presser about the cap penalty. To much to list right now. Basically, the Skins found out about the penalty threw the media, FA players and their agents. Not from the NFL, and the NFL has provided 4 so called explanations, but the Skins have never been given a concrete reason behind the penalty. Or how the NFL and NFLPA arrived at a 36 million dollar penalty. Also, Allen feels some teams (Giants) saw the trade the Skins made to get Griffin and decided to "slow our progress" with the cap penalty.

Mike Jones‏@MikeJonesWaPo

Allen smirks and says "No. No." when asked if he believes collusion took place in 2010 and redskins were penalized for not colluding.

and

HogsHaven.com‏@HogsHaven

Bruce Allen updates the #Redskins salary cap. "We never contemplated a lawsuit." http://sbn.to/ZBzZap

and

Mike Jones‏@MikeJonesWaPo

Asked what the options left for fighting this, Allen says: "There are some. ... We're going to continue to try to find the truth."

So basically the Skins (Allen) are going to ***** about the penalty, but ultimately the Skins will bend over and take it in the ass.

Shanahan on DHall: "He has given everything I asked him to give." Says move was tough b/c he hoped to take care of guys who took care of him

and

Grant Paulsen‏@granthpaulsen

MikeShanahan said cutting Hall was tough because he told his players he'd keep the guys that worked hard & "did it right." Cap changed plan.

How about bringing MeAngelo back at a reduced salary and move him to FS? If MeAngelo has the smarts, big question mark, to move to FS he could be a force. Could be.

4:30pm presser about free agency today. Don't recall that happening before. Comments about the cap penalties? Possibly. I'll be listening.
D Robinson signed with the Chiefs.

The Skins are never going to side with the collusion argument. In the big picture, the collusion charge would be much worse for Snyder as an owner.

There has to be some way they can get some prorated $$ back maybe the next few years...some compromise has to be out there.

Don't hold your breath.

The Skins will just have to weather the storm. MeAngelo getting cut, when its clear Shanahan didn't want to, is weathering the storm.

Restructuring MeAngelo would be like all those restructures Portis got back in the day. That **** added up after a while.

Would rather the Skins make due with what they can now, this year coming up, then extending Vets past their usefullness. Griffin needs a legit team around him to take the Skins to a SB. Can't build a legit team around him with past their prime Vets hogging up all the cap room.

They are not done freeing up more cap space. They have to. Even without a 1st this year, 1 mil is not enough to sign drafted players.

Just heard on 980 that cutting Moss would free up 5 mil and there would be no dead money moving forward. Sucks to say, but expect Moss to be cut.

Well, at least there was one positive from the cap penalties. Thanks, Roger.

Redskins were able to release an overrated CB. In his time here, he was known more for jawing than actual play. I hate to do this because he was a VT alum, but he never did work out here. He had a few good games, but he was overrated and frequently the target of ire from fans.

I am glad he is gone. He was nothing but a headcase.

Redskins may try to out-bid Patriots for Aqib Talib http://wp.me/p14QSB-7Cbg
how

i dont know how we can come up with the money for him? Cut moss 5m and our 1m in cap space. 6 mill isnt gonna do it for Talib.

I remember Talib from his college days, he was a beast, but he might be the biggest knucklehead in the league. rather have a guy like Cason.

Snyder doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would sit quietly for someone doing him wrong. I think the NFL is trying to quietly sooth him behind closed doors.

They're still paper thin and need to add young talent to grow with RG3. 2 more years IMO before they're SB ready (assuming solid roster building and drafting and RG3 health).

Love the Harvin trade for the Vikings. They've got a young franchise QB. Harvin is older and injury-prone. One of those trades that should work out well for both teams.

Also Boldin to SF for a 6th rounder is absurd. I'm guessing that was Boldin's short list team and it drove the price down (plus his cap#).

Harvin is in his like 4th season. and Ponder sucks really bad.

That said they got a haul for him 1st 4th and 7th and have the money to get a FA WR like jennings or wallace. And seeing the reports harvin wants 12m a year prolly better to get the picks.

side note. reports today that the vikes offers the ravens the 7th rounder they got for boldin, why not just give the 6th with all the picks they got today?
